2 comments (A) 2015 Left Florida to follow my only child to Virginia as I was divorced. She went to Arlington for an AWESOME job. Me to Manassas, close to her BUT not "expensive" like Arlington.

(B) 2018 She headed back to Florida, did not like Virginia. I stayed in Virginia and moved to CHEAPER Roanoke.

(C) 2023 Well, retired July 2020 and was "suppose" to move back to Florida. But COVID arrived. Finally moved May 2023.

(1) Florida was NOT expensive back in 2015.

(2) Yikes, it IS now since 2020!! ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Hey Nicole - If FL is too expensive, you may want to look a bit West at Mississippi.  Like FL, it has a coastline on the Gulf - if that's your thing.  Here are some points to consider:

  • Pro: The lowest cost of living in the nation.
  • Pro: Affordable education.
  • Pro: Southern comfort food.
  • Pro: Intense natural beauty.
  • Pro: Southern hospitality.
  • Pro: Lots of rural countrysides.
  • Con: Poverty.
  • Con: Low-quality healthcare.
