Yes, Carnival gift cards can be used for just about everything. Paying for your cruise fare, purchasing items from the online Fun Shops, take them onboard to add to your S&S account, excursions.

Do they have to be used/redeemed only by the member or can they be purchased and given as gifts for others?

Every gift card has a number and a pin.  Anyone who has access to the number and pin can use that gift card.  That means you (the purchasing member), or anyone you give the gift card to, or anyone else, such as someone who might steal the gift card.

How long before the gift cards are delivered? I ordered one over 36 hours ago and the only thing I have received is a notification from my cc company that it was approved. Thank you for your time.

I did get it.  I had to call customer service.  I originally had it sent to an email aarp system didn't like.  I changed that and got a new link for the card.  Bought 4 more without any issues.  If you haven't received after a day,  call aarp for assistance.

A rep. sent me an email that I call, verifying my account info, I got the first gift card the next morning and have ordered 5 more with no problems since then.  I ordered them in the evening, and they were in my email the next morning.

You sure can. Once you purchase the e-gift card, it's yours to do with as you please. All you have to do is give them the card number and PIN.
