Big soft pretzels were only a nickle.

I could get pickles from the barrel at the neighborhood candy store.

Our doctor made house calls.

TV was in Black & white, no remote controls.

I went to Jr. High School (no middle schools then).

Milk was delivered to our NYC apartment in bottles.

My college admissions form was written by hand.

The new Selectric Typewriter was the Gold Standard.

You watched Nixon sweat during the debates with Kennedy.

There were no car seats, probably not even seat belts in the family car (if there were noboby used them).

You had to get up and walk across the room to change the channel on the TV.

At some time you used a corn field for a pit stop during a long car ride.

You sneaked into the Drive-In in a friend's trunk.

Sunday dinner was something special.

You drank your milk at breakfast from a glass that at one time was a jelly jar.

You had a set of glasses that your Dad got free with gas fill ups.

You remember what a gas war was.

We  trusted the government, remember? We were so innocent, and believed in the morality of our country.

Listen to these memories:

You automatically sing along with all the 60s stuff.

The Beatles, Petula Clark, Paul Revere and the Raiders, and Herman's Hermits.

Not to mention my nemesis - Twiggy!

As a matter of fact, you're probably a boomer if England is on your map.

In grade school we had 52 kids in our class and no one thought anything of it
We "recycled" and preserved the land before it became a "buzz word" ...soda bottles, milk bottles were glass and returned to stores, never used styrofoam or plastic cups ,plates, disposable diapers, didn't use Air conditioning , families had one car, saved newspapers and magazines for "paper collection contests at school" ..walked to school and/or took public transportation that was going down the street anyway. If it were storming, mom drove me,
High schools graduated hundreds or even thousands
We could get a job anywhere we wanted for part time job.
Walking down the street at midnight was safe ..
Parents knew where their kids were, mostly home .
Women could be nurses, teachers, secretaries
We could drink 3.2 beer at 18
We studied , respected parents and teachers...we worked for everything we got, didn't expect everything (including good grades) to be "handed" to us.
We learned not everyone would like us and that was okay.
We lived in the best possible time...not the most affluent but the "gifts" and values we got cannot be duplicated .

I had the Partridge Family and Monkees posters on my wall. M yolder sister was aghast and said The Beatles were the poster to have. I let her know the Beatles were just behind The Monkees. Ah, the bliss of youth and humor of hindsight!
