This plays right into the smart phone discussions. If people do not face one another, talk, discuss differences, try to understand points of view, 'good values', 'empathy', and 'coping' cannot be learned.

No one gains these skills by 'communicating' via texting.

It is also much easier to practice angry retorts to other people when you are not face to face.  Example would be political forums where people say things to each other that they would never see face to face. Or at least not for long 😉🤕

For all that we hear about bullying & anti-bullying programs in schools, it's worse than ever .. and sometimes even participated in by teachers. Would there be such a high rate of teen suicide, if family communications were better, and those kids had better coping skills?

I agree.

We can each one of us be the positive change we seek, of course. We can put forth positive thoughts, we can choose to be calm, happy, loving, forgiving. Change can start with each of us choosing to be better, nicer people. Old, old maxim, yet still true.

All reports indicate that these incidents are growing.

How many any of us are out there on the edge, where one incident can cause an act of rage. How many of us have grown more cautious about interacting with others because of fear.

Why ?

A 4-year-old boy is in serious condition after he was shot in the head in an apparent road rage incident overnight in Cleveland, the Cleveland Police Department said.

Police said the shooting happened while a mother was driving her 4-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter.

After the mother honked her horn to pass another car blocking the road, that car allegedly followed the mother onto the freeway and fired shots into the woman's car, police said.

The mother then exited the freeway and contacted EMS, police said.
