Re: Retired with working wife

We don't quite fit your criteria. We retired at ages 57 and 55 respectively. We traveled extensively for a couple of years, but wife went back to work because she said she was too young to retire and really didn't want to fill her days with non-working activities. She did fully retire by age 61 and does a lot of volunteer work and help to her extended family.

I had/have no problem with not working and am now 69. I have heard, directly from some inlaws, where the the wife kept on working because she did not want that much 'together time' with her hubby. I have a feeling there is more of that going around.

Retired with working wife

Message 2 of 2

My wife is still working full time, but I have been retired for quite a while.  I know several other old guys like me whose wives are still working too.  In each case - the wives continue to work because they enjoy what they are doing.  They don't  have to work - they choose to.  Is this the norm ?

Any other over 65 couples out there?  What is your status?
