98-Year-Old Mum Moves Into Care Home To Help Look After 80-Year-Old Son.

A mum aged 98 has moved into a care home in Liverpool to help look after her 80-year-old son.

Tom never married and had always lived with his mum Ada Keating in Wavertree, Liverpool. However last year, he moved to Moss View Care Home in Huyton as he needed extra care.

Tom spent a year living at the home without his mum. But she has now taken the decision to move into the same home so she can help care for him.

Ada, who used to work as an auxillary nurse, said: “I was upset when I was no longer able to care for Tom's needs at home. As I get older and a bit frailer I’m no longer able to cope on my own at home so Moss View was the obvious choice when I needed care. It’s lovely that we’ve been re-united in the home and they are able to meet both of our needs.”

The mother of four, added: “You never stop being a mum!”

Tom, who was a painter and decorator, is delighted he is back living with his mum. “I love being in Moss View as it gives me the chance to socialise with other male residents but it’s great to be able to see my mum more often rather than when she visited,” he said.

“It’s very rare to see mothers and their children together in the same care home and we certainly want to make their time together as special as possible.”
