BBC 03/27/2020 - Coronavirus: Tesla donates hundreds of ventilators to New York

excerpts ~

The Tesla chief executive said the first batch of donated machines would be delivered later on Friday.

The ventilators were purchased from US government-approved manufacturers in China.

Mr Musk purchased 1,255 ventilators from three manufacturers - ResMed, Philips and Medtronic - last week. He said his company would be giving all its ventilators away "whether we buy them or build them".

The ventilators will be donated to hospitals in New York City and across New York state.

Earlier this month, Mr Musk pledged to reopen Tesla's gigafactory in Buffalo, New York - which builds solar cells - and repurpose it to manufacture additional ventilators.

******************

Thank God for those companies which are stepping up on their own--not waiting for the President to do his job and order them to do so.  Thank you, Mr. Musk!

And thanks to all of our first responders and frontline folks who are waging this horrendous battle and putting themselves in harms way every single day--the doctors, the nurses, the EMS, the police, the fire departments, the nursing home workers, the cleaning staff, the grocery store employees, and on and on.  Thank You Every One!

-Untrue -Do you think sleepy Joe can do it faster or better???

Wartsman one -wrote-Well, he was there when President Obama called a National Emergency 10 DAYS after H1N1 appeared in the US, and Joe helped set the wheels in motion that got 10 MILLION people tested in the first couple months, so yeah, no question Joe Biden would've had us in a much better position by LEADING than ToadPOTUS has done by LYING.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Absolutely untrue- Obama /Biden waited until April 2009 to call a national emergency after 1000 American Americans died  with the H1N1 .As a result 16,000 more died in the next several months. You rather trust your life with Sleepy Joe?

A little background on Peter Navarro. 🙂

I"f Peter Navarro ever doubted that he was a Democrat, a look at the other side was enough to convince him. Republicans talked about virtue and prosperity, but they were really a bunch of greedy, intolerant hypocrites, he thought.

The “insufferably bigoted, close-minded, and dangerously well-disciplined storm troopers on the religious right,” he wrote in a 1998 memoir, San Diego Confidential, “wield far too much influence at the ballot box.” The GOP was in thrall to “buffoons, sociopaths, and zealots like Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, and Ralph Reed.” Its economic policies consisted of “tax schemes to further enrich the rich,” and its leaders could not be trusted “to do anything but trash the environment under the phony banner of economic progress.”

Twenty years ago, Navarro was a liberal economist who admired Hillary Clinton, argued for taxing the rich and had run for office as a Democrat four times. Today he is a top economic adviser to a Republican President. As Donald Trump’s director of trade and industrial policy, Navarro is known for his advocacy of tariffs and opposition to trade deals. It is Navarro who has pushed Trump to wage an escalating trade war that pits the U.S. against not only economic adversaries like China but also allies like Canada and the European Union. He is the most powerful person in Washington on the most volatile issue of Trump’s presidency.

Peter Navarro originally set out to be a politician, not just an adviser to one. But he had a problem: people didn’t like him. “He had this burning desire to be important, to be in charge,” says Larry Remer, a San Diego–based Democratic consultant who managed Navarro’s campaigns. “He was right about a lot of things. But he was just an a–hole.”

Cheers for the Doctors at U of MN!

How long will it take to assemble enough to meet anticipated demand?

Tesla VOLUNTEERED to product ventilators a month ago, Toad ignored the offer, probably because Tesla's vehicles do not use donny's mythical clean coal for propulsion.

Peter Narvaro said he send 4000. the 30,000 ventilators are "potential" need based on trending cases. Watch on the news where a doctor in MN came up with a way to make a mechanical ventilators with off the shelf items. Way to go... great news!

I see where GM was  dragging their feet on ventilators production (production act enabled)and then over charging, screw them ... however, Ford is all in and Tesla too.

We will get there I'm sure.

The CNN fact check is FANTASTIC! It shows how the Toad claimed NYC got 8,000 ventilators when his administration only provided 2,000, and how when the Mayor asked for 30,000, donny's munchkins sent 400. Then when Toad croaks about NYC being "ungrateful" for all the wonderful stuff Toad did, it explains if you need 30,000 in 21 days (projected peak for SERIOUS infections) and only have 400 - what real good is being done? How do you decide which 29,600 mostly Seniors are going to DIE because Toad wanted to protect his "numbers" and did NOTHING for 63 days, then made an announcement, and returned to doing NOTHING.

On a further note, a number of Red States are still pretending nothings happened and have virtually no preventive actions in polace - Tennessee is a prime example with 1,203 confirmed cases and 9 deaths so far and no orders to close businesses. Then we have Kentucky, with a very Red Legislature but a DEMOCRATIC Governor who has called for self quarinteen, closed all schools and on-essential businesses and is busy bidding against other States to get the ventilators they'll need. Gov Bevin goes on the radio every day to tell Kentuckians how everything is going, and spends 10 minutes answering questions HONESTLY, and thanks to his leadership KY has only 302 confirmed cases.

So come November, all you folks in the Red States should spend some time while reading the obituaries of your freinds and family to ponder why this happened.
