Re: migrant detention centers 'concentration camps'

Yesterday there were news reports and pictures from within the detention centers. It made me so angry and appalled, I can't find words to describe it.

The children are kept in a concrete building with no windows. There are dormitory style rooms with 5 beds and little else. There is a cafeteria, and some classroom set-ups. The worst of it is that they only get two hours to spend outdoors, so 22 hours inside a concrete building with no windows. I just break into tears to think about it. They cannot see or speak to their parents. If they are children who came here alone, they have to work through their caseworker to make a phone call or speak to someone on the outside. And as if this isn't bad enough, Trump wants to move them into tent cities in the extreme heat of South Texas. At least they are presently in an air conditioned building.

To make it even worse, AG Sessions spews a cherry-picked verse from the Bible to justify his actions. Too bad he didn't bother to read the rest of God's book!! Even Matthew, Chapter 5 would be a good start. There's a lot written in the Bible about taking care of widows and orphans, welcoming the alien because you were once aliens, treating others as you wish to be treated, among others. My mother once told me that you could prove anything if you cherry-picked single verses from the Bible.

Now the Catholic Bishops are up-in-arms about the treatment of the children and Trump's immigration policies, in general. All I can say to them is - where were you when this man was running for office? Most of you were pushing the Catholic vote toward Trump in order to get your SC Justice because you seem to think that will put an end to abortions. They knew then what Trump's immigration policies were, and they knew full well about his immoral and unethical conduct, but only a few Bishops were outspoken against Trump. So dear Bishops, you got what you asked for, now deal with it! And by the way, I am a Catholic.

This action by the current WH regime makes most Americans speechless.   Anyone who knows the basic history of the country is shocked that some in DC have decided that separating children from their parents  is a good thing and a weapon that should be used to deter asylum seekers.   Then the same regime decided that it should further target women and children and say that if they are being abused by people in their country, then they should just suck it up.

One of the current congressional members of the GOP is busy retweeting neo-nazis congressional candidates and the conservatives are silent.    These representatives of the US are no longer representing the US morals and values and should be removed from their positions.    If they truly hate the laws of this country, then perhaps it is them that need to leave the country.

This is so terrible, it makes most US citizens embarassed and shocked.   People are now mobilizing, those hiding their hate and racism  behind the GOP moniker should be very worried, as they will be called out in every community in this country.   They should be afraid, very afraid.   While there are divisions this sure looks like a step to far by the 'conservatives and their version of religious justificatioon".

It doesn't matter what we call housing children separated from their parents in tents ............. it's just plain wrong. Our country's morals seem to be denigrating since trump has taken office. Sad that so many cheer him and actions such as these.

Movement to call migrant detention centers 'concentration camps' swells online

Critics aren't doing their due diligence by labeling prisons for migrants "detention centers," a growing number of activists and critics argue.

The effort to relabel the detention centers picked up steam on Tuesday after McClatchy reported that the Trump administration was looking to build "tent cities" around Texas in order to house migrant children separated from their parents.

"Correction: America is planning on bringing back Concentration Camps for people of color," wrote civil rights advocate Qasim Rashid on Twitter.

"Call it what it really is," read another widely shared post. "Concentration camps."

So is this a Joe Arpaio style tent city for children?
