Considering how far left Europe has gone, it would take a lot of rightward movement to get back to moderation.

As far as our nation goes and the '30s - yes, FDR was quite left but hardly reich-like.

Oh  dear, yes they have really gone bunkers in Europe.  Imagine that Royal Family in England now has in its mist  an African American  Duchess.  who knew that they would allow that to happen.
Too far to the left. that intermarriage deal   will never work here . After all too many Americans really and truly believe that Blacks are the descendants of monkeys.

Sorry, I can't see how your racist comment relates to the topic.

I knwe that it was too subtle  for you to understand.

If you knwe that, why didn't you explain it better?

Not surpringly, you don't mention Hoover and his ultra Conservative positions, especially after he left office.

Does that mean that you agree with my post as offered?  No.  Why? I'm not familiar with anything Hoover did to effect our nation after he left office. Oh, it's the damage he did while still in office which mattered most.  But you said, especially after he left office" What did you have in mind?  Maybe you should read up on your history....it'll be good for you. I seriously doubt I can find an explanation of your thinking in history books. The place for that would be here - with you defining your thinking.

Immediatily following the War in 1918, the absurdly harsh terms of the Versailles Treaty pushed Germans toward a Right Wing Ultra-Nationalism while the vast disparities in wealth gave rise to a strong ultra-Populist sentiment and a rise in the Communist Party. The inept governance by the occupying forces led to a total collapse of the Mark, and the German currancy was subjected to hyper inflation, dropping from $1=4DM in 1914 to $1=4,200,000,000,000DM IN 1923. The German Gov't stepped in and declaired a new currancy, simply "lopping off" the last 12 digits and restoring the 1914 exchange rates. A recovery plan was devised, based on the US dollar, so when the market crashed in 1929, the German economy was again laid waste.

In May 1924 the Nazi Party got 6.5% of the vote and won 24 seats in the Reichstag.

Hitler is released from prison, takes control of the Nazi Party and begins a very high profile campaign using mass ralleys, radio broadcasts and "Hitler Over Germany" with Adolf flying around the country almost non-stop. Then in 1928, the Nazis receive 2% of the vote and lose half their seats in the Reichstag putting them at their lowest level ever with just 12 seats.

What happened? Germany RECOVERED! The average Hans was working full time and earning a nice living, the Jazz Age arrived from the US, and Germany joined in their version of The Roaring Twenties, albiet a bit late.

But when the American Crash pulled down the German economy, Hitler's tales of doom and gloom and a need for a new fully independant Germany resonated with voters and the Nazi's won 107 seats in 1929 and Hitler became Chancellor.

The Republican taxscams of 1981 and '85 transfered the cost of supporting the Government and our civilization from the top 1% onto the middle 40-99%, increasing the average Americans effective tax rate from 9% pre-Reagan to 13.4% post Reagan, a jump of 49% for Federal Income Tax and additional hundreds of dollars as State and Local Government added fees and taxes to replace the Revenue Sharing Reagan killed to try and justify his scam. Meanwhile effective taxes for the top 1% went from 48% to 19%, a DROP of 60% and the increases for local services like police, fire and schools had no effect because the top of the 1% did not rely on local Government for these services in the first place.

In addition to an increase in essential outlays of over half their income, the middle income Americans stopped getting raises at work. Pre-Reagan, if the execs kept the profits for themselves, they'd have to hand over over half in taxes, but after Reagan, that burden was cut to less than 20% and the workers share of profits from their increased productivity went from 96% to 4%, and measured in real income, wages regressed to 1964 levels.

Republicans at all levels of Government made certain nothing was done to interrupt this massive wealth redistribution, and in 2016 Americans decided things were so bad, they might as well try a loud mouth jerk who SAID he'd fix everything (but was very short on details of HOW), and we got our infantile POTUS. So far, his administration has proven at least as corrupt at Hitler's in the first year and time will tell if we allow him to complete the destruction of our democracy and installation of a Plutocracy to rule America.

The Nazis were brought to power because of the American crash (if I understand you). And then something about the Reagan tax cuts. How does that all tie together - Reagan didn't not crash the world economy.

With their white nationalism and donald suggesting closing all US borders for 'jobs" - they are probably too il-informed to see the nonsense in that plan let alone that abject racism.

Do you have any specific objection to anything posted here by an ignobeler or are you just venting in general?
