Remember that Obama took eight years to double the debt form $10 trillion to $20 trillion (100% increase).  Only if you choose to remember that most all of the debt Obama incurred was the cost of Bush's and the GOP Congress's tax cut, two unfunded wars and near depression.  Just saying......

GW's debt was already added. Not the interest on the highest debt in history (at the time).  If Obama continued any GW programs, then that was HIS debt. I charge the debt to the sitting President and not try to blame someone else like liberals do.  Well, that's silly.  Most reasonably intelligent folks would look at what a president does or doesn't do as indicated in the link in the post below.

Is it fair to blame any president for events over which he had no control? During Obama's terms, there was less federal income than usual. The recession and the Bush tax cuts reduced tax receipts. At the same time, the cost of Social Security, Medicare, and other mandatory programs continued to increase. The War on Terror, although technically over, was still being fought in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The fairest method is to measure the debt incurred by Obama's specific policies. The Congressional Budget Office does this for every program. The CBO found that Obama's largest contribution to the debt was the Obama tax cuts, which were an extension of the Bush tax cuts.

They added $858 billion to the debt in 2011 and 2012.

The next largest was the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. It added $787 billion between 2009 and 2012. It cut taxes, extended unemployment benefits, and funded job-creating public works projects. Like the tax cuts, the ARRA stimulated the economy after the 2008 financial crisis

Obama increased military spending to around $800 billion a year. In fact, his security budget request of $895 billion in FY 2011 set a new record. In FY 2013, he requested $851 billion. That happened even though he withdrew troops from Iraq in 2012 and eliminated the threat from Osama bin Laden in 2011. Obama spent $857 billion in contingency funds during his administration. That was more than the $850 billion Bush devoted to the War on Terror.

What about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act? It didn't add anything to the debt in Obama's first term. Most of Obamacare's costs began in 2014 when the health insurance exchanges opened. It also extended coverage to more low-income people that year.

But Obamacare's tax increases offset its costs to the tune of $104 billion between 2010 and 2019.

Congress and Obama also negotiated the sequestration budget cuts. That cut the deficit by a small percent. When all these are added up, Obama's debt contribution was $983 billion between 2009 and 2017.

Obama's Debt Contribution

Now, NOT, do you support the GOP's 180?

Sorry I'm a bit off topic , but since NOT brought up Obama's deficit build up , one must fairly include the cost of the Iraq War , Rebuilding of Iraq and it's Disabled Soldiers.

Over 970,000 Brave Disabled Iraq and Afghanistan Soldiers are being treated and supported deservedly so , by our Tax Dollars and that adds to our Budget Deficit.

So to blame Obama for adding to the deficit is hitting below the belt !!!

Lets keep it simple. Yes, please do.  LOL....  Obama went in with $10 trillion in debt and left with $20 trillion in debt! Much of which was interest on Bush's debt....two continuing UNFUNDED Bush wars.....a need to stimulate the failed GOP economy and.....  It's really quite easy. Especially all the facts are revealed......

With  all of these cuts coming. and the lack of funds in the Federal Government that we are all going to see.
Perhaps is not such a bad idea in cutting the amount of people that come here, after all, we will need what we have to feed our own citizens.

big reversal

Message 19 of 25

In a March 31, 2016 interview with the Washington Post, Donald Trump promised to eliminate the United States' $19 trillion in debt in eight years. But we cannot reduce or eliminate the debt when the annual deficit continually rises.

The new budget deal and last year's tax cuts herald the return of trillion dollar-plus deficits. Last year, Trump's budget predicted a $526 billion budget deficit for the 2019 fiscal year starting Oct. 1; instead, it's set to exceed $1 trillion once the cost of the new spending pact and the tax cuts are added to Congressional Budget Office projections.

What Congress instead delivered on Friday was a budget law would instead increase defense by $80 billion this year and boost nondefense appropriations by $63 billion. For the 2019 budget year submitted on Monday, and Trump's plan as originally devised would adhere to the old limits. Congress has already shattered the spending cap by $153 billion.

"Our leadership caved. The swamp won. And the American taxpayer lost," said Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., on CBS' "Face The Nation."

Lets keep it simple. Obama went in with $10 trillion in debt and left with $20 trillion in debt! It's really quite easy. If the "bill" from GW was $4 trillion, then that was added to the debt already. Obama added the next 100%!
