True, like nerve gas, the gun is just the tool to get the job done more efficiently. Getting rid of the guns would not stop the crazies, just keep them from being so efficient in their insanity.

And of course it would only be a band-aid on the problem since it wouldn't solve the problem.  Addressing mental health would be going to the root of the problem.

But of course it would please the liberals and irritate the sportsmen of the nation.  California gun laws that have been enacted are considered restrictive compared to other US state laws.  Yet even there look at what happened at the Veterans home where killings still occurred?  In the most liberal state of the nation.

Does anyone actually believe that banning firearms is the answer?  Read through the restrictions on firearms in California?  Whoever believes that banning or restricting firearms is the answer lives in a pollyanna world of make-believe.

Address the real problem of mental illness.

Hmm are you saying anyone who wants to buy a gun should have their head examined?  I would agree.

I've never heard of a gun going out on it's own and shooting people.

There is no doubt that mental issues do play in all of these episodes, no matter who is the one that produces them.

The problem lies in the mentality that is now pervading this country. and that is the OK Corral mentality.

The more guns the better, if you have a gun I should have one too, in order to defend myself against you.
And now we have a President that is creating the mentality that is ok to have guns to see if you can help in  a shooting situation. Why have a police force at all.?  Just citizens having guns will solve all of these issues.
I am tired of listening to people that we should have guns because after all the "criminals"  will always have guns and we need to defend ourselves.
Get real folks. I rather see a criminal with a gun than a person with issues with a gun.
Not only people with mental problems, how about alcoholics with a rage issue. or a domestic issue or a political issue.
Frankly, a criminal is a much easier situation to resolve.
We are not populating the West, we already have become a civilized society or have we?

As usual, @TxGrandpa2, your response does not address the thesis of the thread.

With 13% of the population perpetrating over 33% of the mass killings; there is statistical proof that something is wrong with our system as relates to the mental health of our exiting members of military service.

The thesis and implication is that military service, regardless of branch or military speciality or background is deterimental to a veteran or active duty member's mental health.  According to this implication, even if a service member's entire career was as a clerk or similar in a non-combat situation it has a bearing on mental health.

An insult to the thousands, millions who has served in some military capacity.  And nearing the day when present and past members are honored by the nation.  Further by someone who apparently has never wore a uniform.

The poster isn't taking into consideration that these miscreants only represent a small fraction of those who have served.  Using the same thinking, one could say that civilians are prone to have mental health problems also.

Some are describing this as an epidemic.

Stating that this man's duties had nothing to do with combat is but misdirection on your part away from the thesis of the thread.

Misdirection away from the intent of the topic title...

Misapprehension (we know what that is)...

Misstatement in a failed attempt to divert...

So now we have the trifecta...

@nctarheel—Defending Breitbart clearly draws attention to the insular, delusional world in which trump’s fantasy lovers choose to reside.  Good thing the vast majority of Americans see the truth or this nation would never be able to recover from the damage that trump has already  thrust upon her.
