Today is the 99th anniversary of the worst race riot in the history of the United States. On June 1, 1921 1,400 homes and businesses were burned and 10,000 people were left homeless in the Greenwood neighborhood of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Greenwood area was where the wealthy blacks lived and had businesses. Up to 300 people were killed.
The actions of the past weekend shows that not much has changed in the last 99 years.
