Why is Germany doing So Well with Covid19?

We can do this in the USA, but not while Republicans hold power in the State and or Federal governments.

Yup ..... Trump severely minimized the effects of the Corona Virus and downplayed its highly contagious behavior ....... leading to the "no need to worry about it  irresponsible behavior" projected to ALL people!

Should we "round them up" like in China? and force them into quarantine?

No .... Just "roundup" Trump's incompetent and corrupt administration and throw them out of office!

lol... so no personal responsibility... right?

Yup .... Trump has refused to accept any responsibility for the gross misinformation he spewed.

Are the future of America so easly led astray?

Apparently ..... Too many of them believed Trump's lies and cavalier attitude towards the Corona Virus.

I blame the parents who fund their "kids" behavior in college.

As usual, an excuse to evade Trump's incompetent actions.

New York and California are in bad shape because they had no idea there was a problem because the ToadPOTUS kept that information secret (except to a few GOPers who needed to know so they could dump stock before the crash) AND they have HUGE populations.

The new hotspots are Louisana and Tennessee - deep Red States with legislatures terrified Toad will Tweet a nasty at them if they do anything to contradict the BS flowing from the White House. Tenn has yet to tell people to stay home asmuch as possible, and all their night spots are still spreading Covid19 around like it was Confederate Money on Bobby Lee's Birthday.

Ignoble donald supporters will complain about this as well, but I am all for an informed public.   https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/investigations/2020/03/27/coronavirus-test-officials-botched-rol...

The RW answer is to ignore all the public health care professionals around the country.    Sadly, the Deep South states are looking to become hot spots as they listen to Donald as well as ignoble donald supporters here.

Simple answer: They did not elect and support a MORON.

Slightly more detailed answer: Back in Jan, they began testing 120,000 each week.

Anyone who tested positive, even if they had no symptoms, was told to go home and stay there for at least 2 weeks when they'd be retested. If they ventured outside before their quarantine had ended, they were subject to a 8,000Euro ($10,000) fine.

Everyone else was told go go about their business, but IMMEDIATELY contact their doctor if they developed and flu-like symptoms.

RESULT: Germany has fewer than 10,000 reported cases and everything is moving along smartly - kids play in the parks, old people stroll the downtowns, and everything's still open.

Those in quarantine had no money problems as Germany already has wonderful "workers comp" and universal health care.

The testing and quarantine continues, and so does Germany's status as least infected and most productive Nation in Europe.

But GOPers kept a MORON as their ToadPOTUS, so we're now leading Italy in infections, and have 3.3 MILLION unemployment applications in a single day.

As far as I'm concerned you could have stopped after the simple answer. All the rest flows from that

Germany is not China. German is a capitalist democracy. Germany is our ally. Germany began testing in January. When people started dropping dead of the flu there did no one think to ask Germany about how to efficiently produce accurate tests and then outline a plan for making them if they became necessary here?

The data proves Germany has avoided the US cycle:    As of today:   Germany has 47,278 infections with 281 Deaths and 5673 recoveries.     ( US has not been reporting the last number).

Germany  has a vibrant society and if it was acting like US, the deaths would be much greater.   Even when the US had 46450 cases, the number of deaths was 593.

Naysayers can deny all they want,  this is data / facts.    If naysayers believe their information, then in 4 days time, one would suspect that their death and infection rates will spike in the near future.

Why? Germany is not following trump's lead, nor is paying any attention to him.
And hasn't hit Germany's elderly yet? Just wait until it hits the elderly in Florida!

Besides, Germany takes good care of it's Senior citizens...the US does not.

Fishslayer:  Covid-19 has not yet hit as hard among the oldest and frailest members of Germany’s population.

I'm betting it won't hit them as hard because they have competent leadership that knows what it's doing.

This is the reason....

“Why are so many elderly in some countries getting infected whereas in other countries they don’t?” Bayer said. “The social network is a natural explanation.”

"The SocialNetwork" in Germany is totally different, without a doubt. It includes a great many multi-generational households so the EXPOSURE of their Senior population is going to be about the same as it is here.

The difference being, in Germany, Opa and Oma are staying home to look after the grandkids and help with the family finances while over here our Seniors are working two jobs to make ends meet after their lifelong employer declared bankruptcy and took the entire pension fund for their Golden Parachute.

Likewise THEIR social network does not include FOX, and Nazi's are still illegal, so they have no Republicans.

Free speech is limited in Germany. The law goes further. There is the legal concept of “Volksverhetzung,” the incitement to hatred: Anybody who denigrates an individual or a group based on their ethnicity or religion, or anybody who tries to rouse hatred or promotes violence against such a group or an individual, could face a sentence of up to five years in prison.

Many of our resident hate posters right here here on these boards, would be in the big house,  if you lived in Germany.  Keep America Great!

We had a similar law for 20 years called "the Fairness Doctrine" that prevented hatemongers like Limbaugh or serial liars like Fox from existing.

Reagan killed it, and Republicans have used it's absence to divide the nation on ethinic, racial and economic lines and used that divisiveness to put a moronic Toad in the White House (with considerable help from Putin and his PsyOps Warriors in the KGB.)

I have lived in Germany, and the absence of hatemongers and media devoted to lying was WUNDERBAR! and the only people who had their free speech restricted were out and out NAZIS. I understand how Republicans would oppose losing such a strong and numerous group of supporters, but they are not missed by the German people.
