I still do since he won't keep his mouth shut, but the country is thriving in spite of anything written here or anything the press decides to twist and predict. I used to think it was the job of the press to report with accuracy, not try to predict. I don't support a Socialist Government. I know we have a lot of social programs, but think we are encouraging a group to think everything can be given to them.

I think the left is considered a Social Democracy because there seems to be no end to the social programs they want in place.  Everything can't be fixed with give aways.  We have to use better judgement in what we support.  The United States cannot babysit everyone.  There comes a time for people to make their own way and I think left to do this, we would see many welfare programs shrink.

"A Social Democracy is what most in America supports," So, your definition of social democracy is capitalism?

So (social democracy) "a socialist system of government achieved by democratic means" is your definition of Capitalism??

Hey, I was just trying to get any of the posters on the right to commit to a definition of any sort. They have been amazingly slimy about it.

Oh but wait, what if your Emergency Phyisican is not in your Medicare Group....you will now foot the bill for an out-of - group supplier of your healthcare.   And that is a real threat at the moment as EC physicians are challenging your healthcare system.

Isn't it amusing to see someone get amused by someone else's "deflection" and then go off about private healthcare.

Conservatives continually accuse anyone they perceive as being left wing of wanting pure Socialism in America. I have to laugh because they are so ignorant of the truth.

Typical - make something up and then attack someone else for it. And, of course, throw the giggle in.

Is this what you mean, "a socialist system of government achieved by democratic means"?

Now the Right has something else to bash !!!!

Do you have no idea as to the meaning of "discussion"?

So, you are proposing that we want to see capitalism overthrown, the state to own everything, and a move towards communism? Really!

Heck, rk can’t explain why he thinks we are socialists...is it because we care about people, want to see a functioning society, and be proud of our country?

That’s not a political label, it’s caring, pride, and common sense!

Never Forget

Heck rk isn't saying "we" are socialists. rk is continuing the discussion that jim tried to get going by defining the very broadness of the term (from Mark to libraries) and showing how a progression in that direction creates the question, "when do we stop".

"We care about people" is really not on the table. The issue is how we care for them - individually or collectively with the government doing it via wealth redistribution?

Is this kind of "I know it when I see it"? @Richva......Badgering has never been an effective tool. Since I don't support Socialism, I'm not so concerned with it. I will keep fighting those who think we are such a wealthy nation we can be the pocketbook for everyone.

To be accurate, you really did not say anything.  I would point out that the Obama policies after the Dubya Recession started are what saved the Capitalist system in America but I still don't have any idea of what you consider a definition of socialism. Sounds like you are not applying the dictionary.com definition and you don't seem to be able to articulate a different one.
