LOL. News flash: We ARE "just one more country." The narcissism of today's radical right never ceases to amaze me. I took great pains to raise my children to be humble and honest, and to know that "feeling special" comes from their own accomplishments, not the unearned approval of others.

Yet you Trumplings worship the most narcissistic, vain, dishonest braggart ever known to politics so you can feel "special." Have you NO inner resources whatsoever???

Wait, sorry. Don't answer that. It's unkind to make you reveal how incredibly weak and shallow you really are.

Part of the problem I have discussing politics here is that I just can't understand the hate driven, emotional mindset that necessitates childishness like "Trumplings" in every post. Nor can I understand the need to attack the President in every post.

Beyond that, on this topic. I can't know where the negativity towards our nation comes from - obviously some past incident has created profound feelings of having been mistreated.

It must be frustrating for trump supporters to always have their all too transparently dishonest pretense of rationality and objectivity rejected by the very same majority of their fellow American citizens who did not - and certainly never will vote for trump...

Keep up the pretense - an example is useful to refer to when telling kids - "whatever you do, don't grow up to be morally and ethically bankrupt like trump and his supporters" ...

The smart Republicans have a saying "I am no longer a practicing Republican".  I think George Will was the person to coin that.  Republicans never have understood that if a country wants to be the "leader of the free world", it has to shoulder more responsibility (and more costs) than someone in the middle of the pack. Of course, being the leader means you get lots more advantages as well.

Republicans never seem to understand the word "investment".  They won't pay for good roads, good schools, or trained professionals who deal with other countries and now America is slowly sliding into third world status with coal as the shining new energy source and a southern wall that does not work as its greatest engineering feat.

A difference in opinion. To me, "partnership" means equal effort and responsibilities.

And an equal share of the benefits.  I think we can prove Republicans are pretty happy to see young black men gunned down in the street by police officers.  That pretty much demonstrates their commitment to "sharing the wealth".  Speaking of which, what do you think Trump will do with the $11 Million he will save each year in taxes with his tax give away?  Probably pay to silence a few more porn stars and Miss Universe contestants. I know my neighbor is planning to apply the $800 he gets next year to his increased gasoline costs.

As George Will said, "don't vote for any incumbent Republican".  It must have been heck for the GOP to lose the support of such a prominent intellectual.

The smart Republicans voted for Trump and are sticking by him as he tries to accomplish his pre election promises. The smart Democrats also voted for Trump leaving the Obama/Hillary cult speechless!

  • Defending our NATO allies
  • Cutting the deficit

Now they're in Trump World where they must renounce all of the above and more.

Well now there ya go - I am  - sorry - rk is a smart Republican.

BTW does ct have a "smart Republicans" handbook that lists those items?

For example, supporting NATO never meant being the piggy bank for the free loaders - unless ct's handbook shows otherwise.

“Should I stay or should I go now?” That question, posed by the eminent political philosophers known as The Clash, is one that confronts any Republican with a glimmer of conscience. You used to belong to a conservative party with a white-nationalist fringe. Now it’s a white-nationalist party with a conservative fringe. If you’re part of that fringe, what should you do?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/i-left-the-republican-party-now-i-want-democrats-to-take-ove...

It is strange that the left calls the Republicans "white-nationalists" because they see people as people as opposed to separating our population based on race, gender, sexual preference and who knows what.

I do agree that the Conservative element is a fringe. The "go along to get along" establishment still "rules the roost".

"Nationalist" Party - comparatively that is true. Obama saw us as just one more country, Trump sees us as special.

So, as to the Clash question, if you are a Republican - hang in there; if you are a Democrat of the old Liberal thinking, come on over, you'll find us closer to your traditional thinking than the neoMarxists of the Progressive Movement.
