Redistribution is the name of the Republican game - they take it from the middle class and give it to the top of the 1%. The only ones in the bottom 90% who got a tax cut from lil donny would be a couple earning less than $50,000 who might have picked up $500 and a family of 4 would pay about $100 more on that income while the same families but an income of $1,000,000 would get about $25,000 more.

Meanwhile, the Debt hit $22 TRILLION, and since it's OWED by the bottom 90% and OWNED by the top 10%, you can see how that little redistribution is proceeding.

For 38 years we've refused to collect enough tax revenue to come close to maintaining our infrastructre, Social Security or Medicare. Its way past time those who benefitted most from the tax code that caused our financial problems return to paying what their parents and grandparents did from 1934 until 1965, and keep doing it until those "problems" THEY created via their bought-and-paid-for Republcian politicians is FIXED.

All the "redistribution" is taking place from the top earners to the midlle and lower earners. Do some Googling to find out you are WRONG!

You've got a google that cannot search outside the Republibubble? Amazing, but explains a lot.

Unfortunatily for your statement, IF what you found were true, then the top 1% WOULD NOT continue to acquire an ever increasing share of the total pie, be it income OR wealth? Its not because they are.

Very strange that you find this somehow indicating the arrival of that long awaited Golden Shower every Republican candidate promises will suddenly appear, and drench the bottom 99% with goodness and wealth if only we give the Uberrich ONE MORE tax cut.

Don't look at the refund but the line that says total taxes on the 1040 form for 2017 and 2018. That is the numbers you want to compare!

Yes, the forms are a mess but since they were scrambling, writing the IRS rules, flowing to the forms, getting out the schedules and correcting some of the problems that were unclear initially - they did what they could.

I heard the Tax Advocate on CSpan a few days ago and she says the forms should flow better next year.

There is nothing simple about our tax code - not before the TCJA or after - but the withholding and tables are not the complicated part.

I'm wondering what people here might think of the Pass-Through Deduction for (some) small businesses.  This is the deduction for (some)  small businesses which pass their business income onto their personal return for taxation since they do not pay Corp. Taxes because of their business structure -

It is NICE but I agree with the TPC's assessment - there is room where this rule can be gamed because they made it soooo complex.

There was no reason to change the forms. The new forms due just what the old forms did, but make it harder and more expense to produce. Could be the IRS would not have been scrambling writing new rules as the old rules would have worked fine concerning the forms. You missed the whole point of what I told all. When ever you try and please someone who has mental problems by taking what they want main stream you get chaos, and that is what we got. If we had not elected a President with mental problems we would have avoided a lot of problems in this and every other area. Instead of trying to make excuses for Trump it might be a good idea  not to create the problems in the first place. Right now the answer to about 90% of our problems in total is to make sure Trump and the far right do not hold any office as they are the root cause.

the withholding tables

Doubtful that trump was the one who calculated the tax tables.  The rest of your post is off topic.

Are you sure of that. Trump said he wanted the tax form most use 1040 to be post card size and had the Treasury do that. Well when they did it what do we have. Two sided large post card size form called 1040. We got 6 schedules that are new. The 1040 forms were on one sheet of paper. New form 1040 is in a book. Look at the size of the instruction booklet. Cost of forms alone had to go up about 8 times. This is what happens when a mentally impaired President is allowed to have what he suggest happen.

I don't think there are any scriptures about the stupidity of liberalizing withholding tables in order to make the weekly paychecks seem bigger than they are .

Isn't there scripture that says to render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's and unto God that which is God's? So what does your attempting to bring religion into a discussion about tax refunds?  Your comments are off-topic.

I just asked the question about Jesus.  I thought it was what Christians were always asking each other when they weren't wishing each other a blessed day. You seem to be pretty focused on the "render unto Caesar" thing.  I am pretty sure a moron screwing with the withholding tables has nothing to do with Caesar but everything to do with an inability to think more than one move ahead.

Ah yes, "Thou shalt not commit adultery with porn stars or Miss Universe contestants".  One of my favorite commandments.
