One would think that about now Democrats would be swinging for the fences.

On the other hand, maybe the election of Trump is the kick in the pants the Dems needed to wise up.

Trump is on the ground, bleeding: high ranking Republicans petitioned against his steel and aluminum tariffs;  his son-in-law is denied Top Secret clearance;  a porn star is seeking to overturn an injunction so she can resume suing him;  Hope Hicks resigns, Omarosa Manigault resigns, Tom Price resigns, Steve Bannon resigned or was fired; Anthony Scarramucci is fired, Reince Priebus is fired (we think, he might have resigned, who knows?), Sean Spicer resigns, Walter Shaub resigns; Mike Dubke resigns; John Thompson resigns; James Comey is fired; Katie Walsh resigns or is fired (so hard to tell with this administration); Michael Flynn resigns; Sally Yates is fired; Rob Porter resigns (in no small part due to a picture of his ex-wife with a black eye); Mueller is issuing subpoenas to what seems like everyone Trump's ever met (a little hyperbole just for fun).

Maybe the Dems are smart in getting the heck out of the way while the man destroys himself. Why bump heads and risk stirring up sympathy for Trump?

Lest ye think the names mentioned were unimportant bit players, the offices they held include:

Assistant to the President and Director of Communications for the Office of Public Liaison.

Health and Human Services Secretary.

Chief Strategist.

Communications Director.

Chief of Staff.

White House Press Secretary.

Office of Government Ethics Director (shocker).

Communications Director (yep, another one).

U.S. Census Bureau Director.

FBI Director.

Deputy Chief of Staff.

National Security Adviser

Acting Attorney General.

Staff Secretary.

And last but not least: Gary Cohn, Chief Economic Adviser.

I say the Dems are right to stay in a neutral corner while the referee counts The Donald out.

What many misunderstand and is the basis of my disgust with the Democratic Party in the US Congress is this........................................

Obama thought playing Fair was the way to ultimately bring out the best in Americans - you remember the whole - when they go low - we go high thingy .......................that has been proven over and over again to be a losing strategy for Democrats all the way back to Carter.................when they go Low and you go High you end up doubled over in pain and writhing on the Floor.................and the Refs are only going to see your retaliation!

We only win when we control the Fight by first understanding when it's a fight and second by getting in the First Punch..............................

Gone Forever are the Days of Good winning over Evil by Default - Evil has to be Defeated with a Merciless Beat Down - every time it rears it's ugly head - all this other stuff is - Fairy Tales

IMO of course.

Funny ............. I'm a registered Democrat, active in the Party, receive most all communications from them, receive close to nothing about "Sanctuary Cities". The place I here the term "Sanctuary City" the most is from posters like you and sometimes in the news or especially in right being blogs.

The progressives haven't "ruined" the Democratic Party, not enough of them have gotten into the party to do that, in fact, that's just what the Party needs and the giant change in demographics and age groups will bring that about.

The 'Grand Old (white guy's) Party is on it's way out !!!

Apparently, you don't follow the Party you support very closely & how Maleable they have become .......................you might want to read up on the Tea Party & What Happened to Boehner and how they slowly but completely took over the Republican Party beginning at the turn of the Century.............pushing them way out to the Right and culminating in the Election of Trump.......who is now completing the transformation of the Republican Party to a Group of Sycophants Pledging Allegiance - not to a Ideology or Policy or Constitution or Even Country - but to a Autocrat - complete with his Own State Run Media Channel!

You're also - Dead Wrong on your analysis of the Democratic Party - they aren;t anti-Trump................17 Democratic US Senators just voted with the GOP & Trump to restore all the de-regulation of Wall Street - Big Banks & International Financial & Banking Conglomerates

Who can forget the Giddiness of Diane Feinstein looking like the Hobbit Frodo sitting beside Trump when she thought she was getting Gun Control - or the Happy Faces of Pelosi & Schumer sitting in the Oval Office when they thought they had a deal on Immigration

The Democratic Leadership is I M P O T E N T and it has nothing to do with Ideology - it has to do with the Democratic Voters who are Happy to accept the excuse - it's Trumps & the GOP's Fault & continue to re-elect Incumbents at a 90+% rate and think - This Next Time Will Be Different!

So, where are the Dems? Last night trump, the repub president, at his campaign (?) speech, called Maxine Waters a person of low IQ. Is that appropriate to say about an African American woman, and a member of Congress? Is that part of the republican strategy?

37% may be a high water mark for trump

There are two answers to the basic question posed. On the national level they are tightly controlled by their leadership which seems to have only one agenda - "get Trump". On the State and local level they appear to be consumed by the "identity politics" that hurt them last time.

Excuses - Excuses - Excuses...................................A Bunch of Teenagers With No Name Recognition - No Political Power..............................some not even old enough to Vote - just got one of the Most RED - Most NRA Supportive State Legislatures in the Country to PASS a GUN CONTROL BILL

How?

By getting Off Their - Behinds & Getting Out There With a Coherent Message..........without access to A National Platform or Conections with the MSM or Millions in Campaign Contributions

You Guys Are Telling Me....................

192 Democrats in the US House of Representatives Cannot be as Productive as a Handful of Teenagers in One State

44 Democrats in the US Senate Cannot be as Productive as a Handful of Teenagers in One State

Let me do the Math for You - thats 236 Democrats in the US Congress - Some have been there for 40 Years or more......................

Again, Democrats in Congress Are Useless - and Democratic Supporters Are Even Worse By Enabling this Incompetence - like with the Lame Excuses Above!

The times they are a changing .......... it's not just a bunch of teenagers it's the up and coming new demographics that are going to shape the future. Gen X , Gen Y, and now Millennials, the boomers are getting pushed aside and so are their politics. Boomers over powered Gen X and Gen Y but they can't overpower all three of those up and coming generations. Guns, race hate, keep your hands off my stack, the Commies, the Spics, the Jews, the Niggers the Wet backs ................ that stuff isn't going to work like it used to.

Republicans are going to have to find a new tune to play if they want the people to follow.

Democrats in Congress are just staying out of the way of Republicans reaping what they have sown for so many years. Who are Republicans going to say is taking your guns away now, the school age shooting victims?

Time for old farts to get out of the way or follow.

The times they are a changing.

I don't know that under our election rules a third party could ever get strong enough to compete with our two major parties. My hope is simply that our youth becomes politically active enough to influence and change the Democratic Party. We need young blood.

A very good lady friend of my wife and I is involved in March For Our Lives and will be taking some young people to Frankfurt.  A movement is growing, I hope it continues.

I am smiling at the moment because it reminds me that her daughter is just turning 17 this fall, is an accomplished musician/singer and song writer, already has over a year of college credits and her goal is to run for the U S Senate eventually.

I have always been politically active in local politics and in my state but have been slowed down for the last year and a half because of cancer treatments. I will be able to resume this summer, part of what I do is speak to youth groups, urging them to get politically active like these students are, we urge them to vote. A lot of youth in my state was turned on about Bernie Sanders, I spoke at some Sanders Rallies for youth. Unfortunately, when Bernie didn't win the primary, most of those young people lost their zeal and kind of dropped out. The gun control issues can perhaps get many of our youth plugged in to our political system, hopefully nationwide.
