I suppose these ignoblers know that there is more to poverty than the metric of paying income tax...don't they.

Income has been flat for a long time.

Yes it has - since the Carter years. There were massive changes in the world economy and the way things are made. We are not going back to the assembly line approach. Those who adjusted did fine, those that didn't - didn't.

Income has been flat for a long time.   And despite all the misinformation, the example by Pew Trust:   If you are given a $1200 raise and your rent goes up $100 / month, how has that benefited that worker or improved their lives.

As Pew Trust points out - the income is not the issue, it is the puchasing power and that is about the same as it has been for nearly 40 years.

Americans' paychecks are bigger than 40 years ago, but their purchasing power has hardly budged

Guess you missed the memo - that stopped being how it works in 1985 at which time the tax structure allowed the rich to rob the poor with impunity, so they did.
If taxes actually redistributed from the rich to the poor, we'd have no more poor. Instead every year we have MORE poor and the rich are massivily richer.
As to Ms Warren having a couple bucks ( Her current net worth is about the same as JFKs), George Washington was one of the richest men who ever lived, AND HE SAVED US FROM OPPRESSION.
Elizabeth Warren is cut from the same cloth as Washington, and that terrifies the GOPerLords who know she will end their plot to transform our democracy into an Oligarchy ruling over a peonage

========================================

And the left wing band keep playing the same tone.

FYI...The poor pay ZERO Federal income tax!!!

The poor...it shows that giving money to the poor does one thing..it keeps them poor and dependent on our government...that dependency is what the Democratic party depends on for votes...like the rich Ms Warren.

The war on poverty..

The War on Poverty is the unofficial name for legislation first introduced by United States President Lyndon B. Johnson during his State of the Union address on Wednesday, January 8, 1964. This legislation was proposed by Johnson in response to a national poverty rate of around nineteen percent.

The official poverty rate is 12.7 percent, based on the U.S. Census Bureau's 2016 estimates. That year, an estimated 43.1 million Americans lived in poverty according to the official measure. According to supplemental poverty measure, the poverty rate was 14.0 percent.

To get people out of poverty is jobs not more government dependency which has not worked.

Again..‎
Ms Warren continues to show she is clueless. Does she know she is one of the rich and powerful?

She shows that she does not know that we have the Federal income tax that takes from the rich and gives it to the poor. But as Ms Warren is a flaming liberal she will never be happy and shut her big mouth until everyone's income is the same...except hers.

The glue that held that "recognition of their obligation to employees etc" together was the pre-Reagan tax structure.

Until 1981, if the managers of a Corporation who decide how profits are to be divided chose to keep more for themselves, Federal income tax would take 70 cents of every additional dollar and state and local taxes would remove another nickle's worth, leaving the dividers with 25 cents. But if they gave the money to their workers, the worker would spend it, demand would increase, the economy would grow to meet the higher demand, and the value of the boss's interest in the Comapny would grow by much more than that 25 cents they'd get by keeping the dollar themselves.

After 1985, those same managers could keep 68 cents of every dollar they gave themselves, so GUESS WHAT THEY DID?

Obviously they KEPT THE PROFITS FOR THEMSELVES:

From 1948 until 1985, worker productivity increased by 96.7% and their wages increased by 91.5% - they received 95 cents of every additional dollar they made for the Company. From 1985 until 2015, productivity increased 241% but wages increased only 112% - the workers only received 46 cents of every additional dollar they produced for the Company.

Republicans justify this rape of the working class by saying it's due to automation and globalization, not the greedy busters in the corner office. But from 1948 to 1985, companies were moving factories SOUTH to escape Unions so Dixiefacation had the same effect as Globalization, and face it GOPers, automation has been around since the Jochard Loom and Whitney figured out standardized parts, so that dog don't hunt either.

It IS the greedy busters in the corner offices, and they can be "reformed" in a heartbeat by repealing the Reagan taxscams.

All it takes to make this happen is removal of the Republican Majorities in Congress

VOTE OUT THE NRAGOP IN NOVEMBER  - give your kids a FUTURE!

A coupla thoughts - first, the assembly line workplace is gone and not coming back; second, it still makes no sense that the filthy rich keep more for themselves instead of giving it to their employees because their taxes were cut; finally - do you still believe that all the money belongs to the government and it should decide who gets what?

Take a deep breath and relax. The plan has nothing at all to do with socialism (she does not want the government to own the means of production). CEOs will still make plenty of money.

Warren’s plan starts from the premise that corporations that claim the legal rights of personhood should be legally required to accept the moral obligations of personhood.

Traditionally, she writes in a companion op-ed for the Wall Street Journal, “corporations sought to succeed in the marketplace, but they also recognized their obligations to employees, customers and the community.” In recent decades they stopped, in favor of a singular devotion to enriching shareholders. And that’s what Warren wants to change.

Elizabeth Warren has a plan to save capitalism

She’s unveiling a bill to make corporate governance great again.

Elizabeth Warren has a big idea that challenges how the Democratic Party thinks about solving the problem of inequality.

Instead of advocating for expensive new social programs like free college or health care, she’s introducing a bill Wednesday, the Accountable Capitalism Act, that would redistribute trillions of dollars from rich executives and shareholders to the middle class — without costing a dime.

https://www.vox.com/2018/8/15/17683022/elizabeth-warren-accountable-capitalism-corporations

Sounds a lot like Karl Marx and Communism.

Only sounds that way because 1. the GOPerLords told you that's how is sounded and 2. You have no idea what Marx said or Communism is. Understandable - the ones feeding you this lie also told their dupes Ike was a Commie, Social Security is Communist and Medicare is Socialized Medicine.

What Warren's plan will do is RETURN Trillions of dollars scammed from the middle class under Reagan's tax plan to their rightful owners, the ones who created the wealth in the first place.

Understandably, the ones who stole the money want to keep it, and the Republican Party is dedicated to helping them do just that.

I have read the Communist Manifesto to understand the goals of Marx. I have studied the Fabian Society and the Frankfurt School (and others) to understand the vehicles for getting there.

Tell me - which GOPerLord do you see in that??

That would be DaddyKoch, sire of the BrosKoch, who used your reading list to try and brand Social Security (and later Medicare) a Commie Plot after he founded the John Birch Society, the mirror image of the Fabian Society for the Ultra-far Right in philosophy and infinitely more effective in selling its distopian future.

Marx "goal" was total equality in a RICH but classless society - Utopia for short. His economic theories have never been put into practice outside a few religious communities.

The Frankfurt School went nowhere and survives only as a boogieman to frieghten Republican children.

The Fabian Society has no serious adherents in the US Progressive movement and exists as ANOTHER boogeyman for Conservatives.

We never had a serious socialist movement in the US, BUT for the last hundred years of so, we had moved toward an ever improving standard of living for ALL Americans...until the Reagan Taxscam reversed the course of the Nation and drove us toward an Oligarchy ruling over a peonage.

For the past 34 years, experience has proven beyond any shadow of doubt that the Reagan tax structure redistributes income and wealth from the Middle class to the very top of the 1%. It has held the growth in income for the bottom 99% to 1.9% for the ENTIRE THIRTY-FOUR YEARS. Meanwhile the top 1% have seen their incomes grow by over 367% IN THE SAME PERIOD. More recently, 98% of the income gains since the jrbush economic disaster of 2008 have gone to the top 1% while the 99% had to share 2%, with the result a great many Americans are economically worse off today they they were in 1964.

Americans workers did not become slovenly and ignorant and the Uberrich did not magically become capable of Herculean labors and Einsteinian thought in 1985. The Reagan tax structure made the flow of income and wealth to the top INEVITABLE.

What Elizabeth Warren and other Progressive Democrats are proposing is a return to the structure that worked for ALL Americans, not just the uberrich.

What Republicans strive for is an Oligarchy ruling over a peonage and they are well on their way.

Their policy has already created the first ever generation of college graduates who are too burdened by debt to leave their parent's home and those parents are the first generation who did NOT do better than their parents. Not sure how anyone can support those actual, verifiable results because a hairbrained political ideology tells them its a good thing.

By the way rk, Did you notice that Trump's 2019 budget proposes ending COLA for Federal retirees? You should be very careful what you wish for.

Elizabeth Warren at Dillard: Government is controlled by rich and powerful, it's time to take it back

Ms Warren continues to show she is clueless. Does she know she is one of the rich and powerful?

There are many, many rich and powerful people who want to reduce income inequality, increase mobility, and make life better for the middle class.

They are mostly liberals, though. 😉

They are ALL Liberals, except for a few who are Progressives

Truth. 🙂
