Really !!  A Trump supporter , who never calls out Trump for all the bad things he's said , complaining about another politician's language. Sorry , but it seems some people can't see past their own noses.

ManicProgressive:   I don’t even know where to start with this, because if you think the “left” has been silent, you haven’t been paying attention.

It's another example of people ignoring their lying eyes and ditching reality for the fantasy invented by conservative media. They are being told the left is silent so that's what they believe.

What I see from the responses is as Pelosi did and try to sweep it under the rug.  I had hoped for better.

I don't understand how she gets away with this. Why is there not outrage on the left?

I think Ilhan Omar put Nancy Pelosi in a precarious situation.

Omar admitted she used the wrong words ("trope", as she called it) when describing lobbyists and lobbyists organizations, in this case AIPAC.
On the one hand, Pelosi does not want to ignore the feelings of Jews, nor does she want to ignore the feelings of Muslims. She doesn't want to be criticized by progressives who strongly support free speech and open debate.
At the same time, Nancy Pelosi is a leading fundraiser for the Democratic party. She does not want to lose campaign donations from AIPAC. So, she came up with a compromise - "condemn bigotry" in general. Republicans are trying to capitalize on this, and at the same time fire up their anti-Muslim base.

For several centurys, before the British Mandate the Ottoman Empire did not designate "Palistinian" as a nationality - people were either Jewish Arabs or Muslim Arabs.

When the Brits first drew lines on a map around 1920 designating a "Jewish Homeland", it looked exactly like the current map of Israel, minus the Golan, plus Gaza.

When the Allies drew more lines after WWII, oil in great abundance had been discovered, and as a sop to Standard Oil's new Arab partners, they designated areas INSIDE that "Jewish Homeland" - Gaza and the West Bank - as "predominantly Arab" leaving the new State of Israel with INDEFENSIBLE borders, and nothing to designate a "Palestinian" area in the Kingdom of Jordon, which is what they labled the rest of the British Mandate, importing a royal family from Iraq to rule the place.

Time to correct that greed-inspired error made back in 1947 and recognize the current borders as the legitimate State of Israel and stop pretending they could survive with an independant Nation of Palestine where the West Bank and Gaza are now. The Palestinian Arabs HAVE a Homeland - it's called JORDON!

I don’t even know where to start with this, because if you think the “left” has been silent, you haven’t been paying attention.  But Omar “unequivocally apologized” for her comments.   Sincere apologies go a long way. Somebody should clue in Steve King.

But this is where most have settled, or close to it. Understanding she was condemning certain Israeli policies and many American politicians’ unquestioning support for them.   Written by a Jewish American:

“Omar has a lot to learn. She’s an ideologue, and like her counterparts on the right, she can be self-righteous and mean. She seems obtuse to the fears of American Jews, who worry that the Democratic Party, like Britain’s Labour Party, could become a forum for anti-Semites. But the points she’s raising about Israeli policies, pro-Israel donors, and unconditional American support for Israel are legitimate. She has condemned bigotry, and she has never disparaged Jews. Yes, she should have spoken more carefully. But if she deserves censure, so do her Republican colleagues.”
