WHY ISN'T THE PRESIDENT IN JAIL A BIGGER STORY ?

What’s your favorite act of misusing and/or stealing funds from a charity in this list of violations to which the president of the United States of America, Donald Trump, just admitted in the course of paying $2 million in court-ordered damages to resolve a lawsuit filed against him by the New York attorney general’s office?
1. When he had the Trump 2020 campaign put the Trump Foundation’s name on promotional materials and ceremonial checks related to a fundraiser that he, as a candidate, held for military veterans in January 2016. (The Trump Foundation was ostensibly a charity, and charities can’t participate in political campaigns.)
2. When he used $100,000 of the Trump Foundation’s money—which was raised almost entirely from other people—to settle an ordinance dispute that his Mar-a-Lago club/vacation home was having with the city of Palm Beach, Florida. (He had violated the ordinance in question by flying an enormous American flag on an 80-foot flagpole, which, admittedly, is a funny way to get sued by the city of Palm Beach.)
3. When he used $157,820 of the Trump Foundation’s money to settle a legal dispute with a man who’d won a $1 million hole-in-one prize during an event held by another charity at a Trump golf course in New York. (The resolution agreement released by New York state says that a company from which the outside charity had purchased “ ‘hole in one’ insurance” was responsible for denying the man his prize. Per reporting by the Washington Post’s David Fahrenthold, who uncovered a great deal of the activity covered in New York’s suit, the question at issue was whether Trump’s golf course had made the relevant hole too short.)
4. When he used $25,000 of the charity’s money to make a donation to a political group that supported then–Florida attorney general Pam Bondi at the same time that Bondi was considering whether to sue “Trump University” for defrauding its “students.” (Bondi did not, but New York’s attorney general did, which led in part to the other multimillion-dollar fraud settlement that Trump paid since taking office.) (Bondi now works for the White House as a special adviser to Trump on matters related to impeachment.)
5. When he used the Trump Foundation to pay $5,000 to put an advertisement for the Trump International Hotel in D.C. into a program distributed at another charity’s fundraising event.
6. When he used $10,000 of the Trump Foundation’s money to buy a painting of himself (Donald Trump) that he hung inside his Doral resort in Miami.
7. When he used $32,000 of the Trump Foundation’s money to pay “stewardship” costs for a piece of property in Westchester County, New York, that he’d donated to a land preservation group (but only after attempting unsuccessfully to build a golf course and luxury housing on it)

Some people might say that No. 6 is the best because it creates an overlapping Venn diagram of corruption involving the Doral resort, to which Trump’s administration attempted to award a contract to host the G-7 international summit.     But I like No. 5 because it’s so simple.
The president should go to jail!    Why isn’t the president in jail? Why isn’t this a bigger story? (The answer is because it’s competing for news space with all the other crimes for which he should go to jail.)

The only reason Trump wasn't indicted is the Justice Dept. memo/policy which states they (The Justice Department) cannot indict a sitting President. But watch out if Trump loses. The SDNY and the NY Attorney General are getting his orange jump suit ready.

@CriticalThinking    Hoping CT that you recognize the need to have laws that deal with this issue in the future. Presidents are not above the law so has the Supreme Court said.

That, and not having a Republican Party that is complicit with all these illegal crimes. I am so disappointed in these people - they way they have shrugged off so many things Trump has said and done is beyond belief.

Wow what a different perspective...

My wife and I were talking at dinner last night how refreshing it is to have such transparency in an administration.

President Trump has been the best President in our lifetime.

IMO, he will easily get 4 more years to move the country forward in the right direction.

His straight talk about the craziness that is going on in the streets today is so right on target to us regular Americans.

Trump/Pence 2020.  Trump is still our President!

Trump's refusal to release his income taxes screams otherwise!

President Trump has been the best President in our lifetime.

His criminal actions clearly indicate that he is the most corrupt president in all of American history!

After moving the country in the wrong direction for 4 years .... over a cliff ..... NO WAY!!!

Trump is responsible for "the craziness that is going on in the streets today" and ludicrously denies that it is all happening under his watch!

Not for long.

And this will be Trump in 2021 ....

The only transparency about tRump is all of the lies he tells, more than obvious to anyone with just a stich of intelligence.

It is the WHOLE story as to why he desperately needs to win the election to have AG Barr and his Supreme Court keep him OUT of jail, and bankruptcy, fines and civil lawsuits.

He wont have the time, money nor enough lawyers willing to defend him if he loses.

He wont have the money to pay his back taxes and fines and loans to foreign banks.

The man is desperate. His words and actions prove it.

He will lie, cheat and possibly kill(using Russians) to win.

No one  really know what is going on with Trump, but Trump. The one thing all can be sure of what ever he does will be in line  with the Mob. Boss he is, and to make matters worse he has mental problems. We have all be told this and it has been proved by Trump himself. He has always destroyed everything, and everyone who comes near him.

Here is an example of how Trump works:

All should have hear about the Tick Tok problems where Trump wants the Co who owns it out of the USA, and has told them to sell the business. So far he has never backed up his charges that they are a security threat to the US.

Well we hear Wal Mart and another US Co. were going to buy them. They seem to have struck a deal between them. Sounds ok so far.

Then Trump tells us he wants 5 BILLION form the deal for the US Treasury. (Here we see the Mob Boss at work.)  Trump says the money will be used for patriotic education programs. (Want to bet where a lot of the money ends up.) Now you see a Mob Boss Deal in action.

Some will say no problem if US gets a cut. REALLY? Trump tells us this come from the parties to the deal. Dream on. It comes right out of our pocket in the form of higher prices. Fact is you could see Wal Mart raise prices in the stores or cut services. Keep in mind they ended or are ending cashiers to save money. You could call it the Mob Sur Tax you hear about in the movies on the mob.

If this goes through you will see this type of action by Trump in every large business deal made. The Govt. kick back. In Pa. a Dem. politician made a similar arrangement in a business deal some years ago. He was arrested tried and convicted for it, and served jail time. It is a well used mob business tact and Trump I guess knows it well.

The Trump supporters say how refreshing all of this is. Really? Is this what the USA was built on.

What are your thoughts.

the craziness is happening on HIS watch. Maybe if he would have done a better job of handling the pandemic, and then the economy crash, throw in police brutality. and voila, you have the chaos in America Putin so desperately wants. A shame you don't get that, but in a cult, so that explains it. Sad.

@JANMB   You are forgetting the most important reason as to why he is not in jail now.
That is because you lack the enforcement mechanisms to be able to put him in jail.
There is nothing in the Constitution that says that a President cannot be indicted and go to jail. but.
you lack the laws that would make that happen.
The Constitution was done to provide Americans of the basics of this Democracy but it was up to you, to not only nurture that Democracy but to create the necessary enforcement laws to preserve it.
Hoping that many learn this lesson and change many of the laws that we have in advance of getting again another President like Trump

The U.S. Constitution isn't anything that will get Trump in jail but he has to be accused of violating a LAW and be found guilty!  What laws would you change to make Trump go to jail?  Just askin'.

Not to worry, when he comes out of office he will for sure get indicted, prosecuted and imprisoned, if not by New York, by another entity. tRump supporters cheer at his every move even his illegal ones), perhaps they will cheer him in prison too. LOL !

Presidential Nominees to provide full public financial disclosure for the past ten years.  The Federal Elections Commission establish a Vetting Team to document and report to the people for THEIR consideration.

The Vetting Team remains actively monitoring WH finances throughout each presidential term of office.

Right off you can see tralump would be in trouble attempting to perform this act of patriotism.

Candidate snake.trump was also heavily involved warding off the fast approaching trial that would find him guilty of FRAUD.  The vetting team would have disqualified him from running and I know they tried.  26 million dismissed the 'responsibility for harm done to others 'problem' for said candidate - for our highest office!  There ought to be a law.

Trump has already been found guilty. He is an unindited co conspirator to Michael Cohens crimes. If he were not President he would have been tried and found guilty with Michael, and served time with Michael. The JD rule about not pressing charges against a sitting President saved him till he leaves office.

Not Happening: Well, I'm sure as heck not voting for President Pandemic. All he does is say, "It's China's fault, it's China's fault." Yes, it started in China and then spread to Europe, but what good is that doing? Listen, if your home is damaged by a tornado, you don't stand there for 7 months and shake your fist at the sky. You roll up your sleeves and get to work. That's the American way, and what we would've done if "he who must not be named" would've been honest and not lied, time after time and time. This man has committed not only white collar finanacial crimes, he has committed the biggest crime of all: turning his back on the very people he's supposed to serve.

Well the court record is where my information comes from. Here is what an unindited co conspirator is:  A person who is involved in a crime with another person and the other person is convicted and sentenced, and Co-Consp. has not been indited yet, but usually will be shortly. With Trump as President they can not until he is out of office.

The same material that convicted Cohen will used on Trump with this added. Trump was the one who ordered the crime committed. Yes they have that on tape.

@john258   So  I am correct. there are no existing laws that actually deal with the  issue of a President that is indicted of a crime to be brought to court and found either guilty or innocent . We simply have a crooked AG that has simply decided to save Trump from jail. policies on the JD are not laws.

You are correct. . The policy now being used was put in place sometime ago by the JD so Barr is not the one who created it, but uses it.  CT  gave you a good answer.

There is some truth to the theory that President Trump's main reason for getting reelected is to prevent these criminal investigations from moving forward. As a private citizen, he will be subject to the prosecution of one or more of those illegal actions. He knows that, so does his wife, daughters, son-in-law, sons and anyone else mixed up in these crimes.

Honored Social Butterfly

The answer is simple: Too many Democrats sat out the 2016 election.

This led to tRumpers taking control of the Senate, which, mostly because of the dynamics of 6 year terms and 2 year elections, they held in 2018.

Long ago, the Justice Department determined that they could NOT indict a sitting President BECAUSE the Constitution provided a political remedy for Presidential misbehavior - Impeachment by the House and Removal by the Senate.

Your can't send a person to jail without an order or decision from a Court. You can't being a person to criminal court for a felony (serious) crime without an indictment.

As we saw, Moscow Mitch refused to remove tRump for his many crimes, so it is impossible to CHARGE (indict) tRump let alone bring him to trial in a Federal Court.

So far, tRump has simply ignored State Courts, so when control of the Senate went to the Republicans, tRump became immune to prosecution.

Thanks again all you Democrats who could not bring yourselves to vote for Hillary - you brought this on all of us.
