Violent Protest

A protest at UC Berkeley over a scheduled appearance by right-wing provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos turned fiery and violent Wednesday night, prompting police to cancel the event and hustle the Breitbart News editor off campus.

But even after the event’s cancellation, hundreds of protesters spilled off campus into the city streets, where the violence continued as they confronted drivers, engaged in fights, smashed storefront windows and set fires.

Protesters decried President Trump’s policies as much as they did the visit by Yiannopoulos, a gay conservative who has been making the rounds at college campuses across the country with his “Dangerous **bleep**got” talks, specializing in remarks meant to insult, offend and disgust liberals who disagree with his ideas.

Radical Left strikes again...  It's what happens when they "Don't get their way"...

But wait, they did get their way the Milo speech was canceled.  Go figure.

What has happened to free speech?  Liberals needed to cancel it...

This is so cute. It is restriction of free speech unless they don't like what you are saying then it is reasonable. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Even major media are saying that the peaceful protest was invaded by the same groups that invaded Occupy Movements.     White Nationalists appear to be complaining just a bit too loud.   They are employing the same Donald tactic:   Black is White, Up is down.    Alternate Facts are the RW manna.

Swarms of people dressed in black invaded what was supposed to be a peaceful demonstration against right-wing commentator Milo Yiannopoulous on Wednesday evening.

The group tossed smoke bombs, set fires and started fights on the University of California - Berkeley campus where Yiannopoulous was slated to speak. He never would.

The protest's organizers, the Berkeley Against Trump coalition, said the peaceful acts of the 1,500 demonstrators were marred by 50 to 75 anti-fascist Black Bloc protestors.

DOnt expect anyone from the right to be able to tell antifa or their activities from anyone else's activities. If it isnt in agreement with Trump, its not allowed. None of those posting here allow themselves to disagree with him. I do remember a few years ago some had an independent thought.

So it begins.

This post seems to have missed the point. It was all about shutting down the free speech rights of someone probably in agreement with President Trump. How that translates into "If it isnt in agreement with Trump, its not allowed" is a mystery.

Or, was it all about not providing a platform and the illusion of  legitimacy this venue would have bestowed?  In this country, you can say anything you want but you don't have a constitutional right to do it in my living room either.

No, there is no other way of spinning it. It was all about shutting down the free speech rights of the speaker as well as the rights of those who would have liked to hear him.

And how ironic for it have happened at the source of the "free speech" movement. Mario Savio must be turning over in his grave.

Nope, it is not. John Adams, George Washington, Nathan Hale were also aware of the risks in being a patriot.

Every fascist in history has demanded that we obey the law. I can see today's Conservatives standing at the base of the gallows for Nathan Hale discussing how his hanging will show the rebels what's what!

Violence against an oppressive system has always been a tool of patriots.  Our founding fathers understood this. The British and Trump do not.  You cannot trample human rights in American and expect a passive response.

Scott Adams, the creator of the popular comic strip Dilbert got his MBA at UC Berkeley and has remained a top donor, both in money and time.

After the recent riots, where Democrat terrorists “Antifa” set fires, vandalized property and beat Trump supporters unconscious, Adams had pulled his funding from the troubled liberal university.

The alumni of schools that allow rioting to take place are already withholding their donations.  When the funds dry up, the schools will change their attitude.

jimc91--Maybe Mr. Adams should have spoken to the Chief of Police who told the press that these were outside agitators--I and others have said this many times.  It happens all the time.  (Ferguson, Watts riots, etx., etc.)  I was really surprised Adams made this announement without having all the facts--kinda makes me wonder if he's a Trump supporter.

Gee, I miss having a real President!!

You don't get it. People arent protesting free speech. They  are protesting what is being said. And as for that meme, i says you can't take federal funds away because the protesters are EXERCISING THEIR RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH.  It goes both ways.

Violent protest is not protected.

We have laws protecting innocent people from violent thugs and they shoud be charged, tried, and punished according to the law.

IMO if the school protects such thugs i would say withold funding.

What made Yappy want to go stir up a hornets nest in the first place?  Would the NAACP want to speak at a KKK rally?  Just another way for the right to cause trouble.

The same thing that made Okeefe and Brietfart destroy ACORN by posing as a pimp. NOW do you understand why the Reich "pokes the bear?"  NO? Okay, here's a little anology to help you understand what they've been doing for decades:

Bear is protecting people's rights.

RW pokes the bear.

Bear reacts to provication.

RW puts highly edited version of reaction on FAUX 24/7.

GOPerdupes fly into bigger than usual rage.

Politicians elected by GOPerdupes set fire to Bear and destroy it.

RW cheers.

Bear is dead.

People are unprotected

UC Berkeley last year received $370 million in funding from the federal government, underlining the seriousness of President Trump’s threat to withdraw funding following leftist riots at the college yesterday.

The riots, which were a successful effort to prevent Breitbart Senior Editor MILO from speaking at the university, were condemned by President Donald Trump, who earlier threatened to take away the university’s federal funding.

“If U.C Berkeley does not allow free speech and practices violence on innocent people with a different point of view – NO FEDERAL FUNDS?,” Trump wrote.

From a reputible souce, in otherwords, NOT Breitbart!

"The violence was instigated by a group of about 150 masked agitators who came onto campus and interrupted an otherwise non-violent protest," UC Berkeley said in a statement. Some people were attacked and police treated six people for injuries, the university said.
