Oh my and sigh - logic is difficult to deal with when all you have to go on is hatred for the President.

Expressions of hatred for Trump is what you get whenever two or more patriots who love America get into a room. We feel the same way about Putin and Kim Jung Un.

My point - no logic, no pros and cons, no looking at the positives - pure hatred.

Those "dividing" Russians have done their job very well.

If I understand your point, the Venezuelan government should have nationalized the industry and .... and what ........ killed all those Oligarchs?

And then there are those "American Capitalists" - how shall we deal with them. If the government were to seize all the corporations, what should be done with them to assure that they don't mess up your "new order"?

Interesting is that a Venezuelan honcho / judge has requested  asylum in the US.     He didn't walk here, so what are his odds of being approved?   https://www.reuters.com/article/us-venezuela-politics/former-venezuela-supreme-court-judge-flees-to-...

The lesson from Venezuela is not to elect a corrupt dictator. Venezuela is not a socialist country but a dictatorship.

Too bad the right did not learn that before electing a wanna be dictator in this country.

Would you call their economic model "Free Market Capitalism" - or something else?

I would call it a corrupt dictatorship. Just like Trump wants in this country.

Instead of jumping immediately to the hate filled nonsense, think about the issue - this is about an economic system.

So, again, would you call their economic model "Free Market Capitalism" - or something else.

I would call their economic model as a corrupt dictator using the government to enrich himself at the expense of the citizenry.

Either you have a free market operating mainly independent of the government or you have one controlled by the government. I believe they have the latter - are we in agreement?

No, why would anyone agree with your inaccurate assertion?

If you insist on claiming that there are only two possible economic models, then Venezuela would be an example of “free market capitalism” run amok.

Either the government is running the economy or it isn't. "Run amok" is not a valid option.

And I would remind you the economy did not run amok, it was taken over by the government.

Richva:   Still, it is telling that they never discuss Canada, Finland, Norway, The Netherlands..... All they would consider socialist and all who have more efficient systems for providing services to their citizens at less cost and more efficient outcomes. Health care, child day care, elder day care, universal retirement systems, etc.

For one thing the people of the countries you list have the "right" amount of pigmentation while poor Venezuela has the "wrong" amount. Also, it's much harder to demonize success than terrible leadership that's heading for collapse.
