Re: USA = A Flawed Democracy!

One one of the main criticisms about the US is the eccentricity that has always existed in the US.

Most Americans believe that if is not known in the US  it doesn't exist.

The American Democracy functions in the US for various reasons, but it has proven not to be the best export that this country has.
The minute that any country does anything different that what is done in the US  that action gets criticized and the name calling begins.
There is a lack of acceptance in not being perfect. and now more than ever that we have an Administration that has the intent to take us back to 1950 America.
We are loosing in all counts. the the long term problems that we are creating will be the ones that will really hurt us for many years to come.

The answer to your question:

North America has the highest average score in the Democracy Index of any region. Canada and the US continue to perform reasonably well, but they lag behind many European countries, particularly those of northern Europe. Furthermore, the performance of the two North American democracies has diverged in recent years. The US fell below the threshold for a “full democracy ” in 2016 and is now rated as a “flawed democracy ”. The main cause of the US regression was a serious decline in public trust in
US institutions in 2016. This year the country ’s overall score remained the same, and the US remains in 21st place in the global rankings. The score for Canada also stayed the same, at 9.15, and it remains in joint sixth place (with Ireland).

USA = A Flawed Democracy!

I'm reposting this in abbreviated form because my original topic is missing, at least on my screen it is.

The Economist's 2017 Democracy Index can help Trump understand why we don't have more immigrants from Norway or any of those other Commie/Socialist countries in Northern Europe with their good schools, universal healthcare, low poverty, lesser inequality, stricter gun laws, etc.

As shown on the map & ranking table below, those countries are considered "Full Democracies" while we're in the "Flawed" category.  One major reason for our relatively poor showing is our economic inequality which the report agrees with many of us, will worsen due the recent tax law.
