NOTICE TO DEMOCRATS WHO MUST FALL IN LOVE WITH A CANDIDATE BEFORE YOU VOTE FOR THEM!

Not only do you allow SCOTUS to turn Fascist, guess who appoints all those judges to the lower Federal Courts? GOOD GUESS - the POTUS you helped elect by not voting or writing in some no-chance hero.

For decades, Republicans have done everything in their power to prevent Democratic Presidents from filling any Judicial vacancies so the next Republican can fill them. With President Obama, Yertle refused to even consider his SCOTUS nominee because Republicans had won the midterms and that proved (so Yertle McConnell said) President Obama wasn't popular enough to nominate a Justice of the Supreme Court, and the GOPers were sitting on hundreds of other nominations that lil donny is now making.

So how did Manafort, with "sentencing guidelines" indicating 15 years would be appropriate get a wrist slap? BECAUSE REPUBLICANS HAVE POLITICISED THE JUDICIARY! They can only do this because Democrats sit out elections - when Democrats vote, Democrats win - that's what being a majority CAN do for you, IF YOU VOTE.

Manafort's Judge, Senior U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis, was nominated to the bench in 1987 by President Ronald Reagan, who of course favored very conservative picks. Before then, he had worked since 1970 for Hunton and Williams, a very well known, quite conservative, Richmond firm.

US Capitalistic Kleptocractic Swamp 47 Months

https://theweek.com/speedreads/827857/alexandria-ocasiocortez-says-manafort-sentencing-shows-justice...

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says Manafort sentencing shows justice isn't 'blind,' it's 'bought'

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) sees Paul Manafort's 47-month sentence for bank and tax fraud as further proof that the criminal justice system is broken.

On Thursday evening, MSNBC's Ari Melber tweetedthat the sentence is "far below" the recommended 20 years, despite "extensive felonies and post-conviction obstruction." This is a "reminder of the blatant inequalities in our justice system that we all know about, because they reoccur every week in courts across America."

Ocasio-Cortez agreed. "Paul Manafort getting such little jail time for such serious crimes lays out for the world how it's almost impossible for rich people to go to jail for the same amount of time as someone who is lower income," she tweeted."In our current broken system, 'justice' isn't blind. It's bought." Catherine Garcia

Darn AOC, always saying stuff that's true, when will she learn how to be a good politician?

I was wanting to find out if the 10 yr. sentencing guideline still held now that Manafort has committed perjury.  I ended up reading Manafort's plea deal within Mueller's government web page.  Originally the guideline sentencing base level was 210 to 262 months.  (17.5 years and 21.83 years.)  That was decreased to the 10 yr. only as credited to Manafort's guilty plea and his agreement with Mueller's contractual "deal".

Once this criminal breached his plea, he is still bound by it.  Whereas Mueller is not bound in any aspect in that same contract.  Manafort's lying, to the FBI, the government and I believe a grand jury, on multiple occasions on a variety of subjects allows Mueller to "urge a stiffer sentence", "free to increase".

I think he assuredly will do just that.

As seen with Judge Ellis's 47 month sentence, the Court is not obligated to follow the government's recommendations.  I was surprised last week when Judge Jackson did not send Stone to jail for his gag order violations.  This however is an entirely different kettle of fish.  (Mueller filed docs contain more than 700 exhibits)  I'm going to say Manafort's sentencing depends on - how all parties are conferring together until the 13th and most importantly, the mood of the Court.  I'm wondering if Judge Jackson was as stunned as most all were with Judge Ellis's decision.

https://www.justice.gov/sco

I was not able to find specific document(s) relating to Manafort's perjury.  The plea deal does however specifically define what actions would constitute a breech of the contract.

This was the judge that struck out against the prosecution and berated them. Is that being impartial? He also likes white collar criminals and takes pity on them. Judge gives him 47 months

He was extremely lucky with this judge practically blowing kisses to him. But he faces a different judge with more sentencing next week and I doubt his luck will hold.

True - but the Sentencing Guidelines in the next Court have a maximum of only 10 years - this guy is anti-American grifter

This Judge sent a message to the next Rich White Guy that Conspiracy Against the USA is only going to get you a Slap on the Wrist
