Twitter suspends fake antifa account run by white supremacists

Twitter suspends fake antifa account run by white supremacists

Twitter suspended the account, which was linked to a white nationalist group, for inciting violence.

"Tonight's the night, Comrades," one tweet had said, before encouraging users to "take what's ours."

Twitter has suspended a fake "antifa" profile on its platform, which the tech giant says was linked to the white nationalist group Identity Evropa, for making posts inciting violence during ongoing protests in the United States, according to US reports.

The recently created account, @ANTIFA_US, issued tweets calling for violence and rioting.

"Tonight's the night, Comrades," the account tweeted. "Tonight we say ‘F--- The City' and we move into residential areas… the white hoods… and we take what's ours ..."

The post ended with #BlackLivesMatter and #F***America, and the profile's photo included the antifa logo.

A Twitter spokesperson  told NBC News that the fake account was suspended because it violated the company's platform manipulation and spam policy. Twitter told CNN that the company removed the account after the account "sent a Tweet inciting violence."

The spokesperson added that Twitter has taken action against fake accounts linked to the Identity Evropa group before.

The antifa movement is an unofficial network of loosely affiliated radical left-wing protest groups who promote direct action and confrontation to fight the far-right and fascism. The group's name refers to a shortened version of "anti-fascist."

Antifa protesters are largely decentralized, and primarily use social media to organize their actions. US President Donald Trump has recently targeted the group, blaming them for the destruction of property, looting and arson taking place at this week's protests, and calling the network a terrorist organization.

"It's ANTIFA and the radical Left, don't lay the blame on others!," he tweeted on Saturday.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks hate groups in the US, has designated Identity Evropa a white nationalist group that focuses on "intellectualizing white supremacist ideology."

Twitter says that two hashtags, including #DCBlackout, and hundreds of accounts are responsible for spreading misinformation about a "cover-up" and "blackout" of protests in Washington, DC. The fake accounts had accused internet service providers of censoring news of protests as part of an effort to black out the demonstrators.

"We're taking action proactively on any coordinated attempts to disrupt the public conversation around this issue," the spokesperson told NBC.

To all the antifia deniers that says there is no such group. There was a former Antifa member and recruiter  on cable news today  saying it does exists and it`s main purpose was to cause insurrection and violence. Their main recruiting areas our college campuses. Better description from the internet-
Antifa is not a unified group; it is loose collection of local/regional groups and individuals. Their presence at a protest is intended to intimidate and dissuade racists, but the use of violent measures by some antifa against their adversaries can create a vicious, self-defeating cycle of attacks, counter-attacks and blame.

I understand perfectly why people stand against anything and anyone that stands against all White Supremacist groups. It's not a pretty label.

Soro's and Antifa?  Have any proof?  Or are you just regurgitating the Conservative narrative?

Tilting at windmills is an English idiom which means "attacking imaginary enemies", originating from Cervantes' novel Don Quixote and from the romantic, ill-thought-out actions of the story's hero of the same name.

tilt at windmills

To waste time fighting enemies or trying to resolve issues that are imaginary.

To confront and engage in conflict with an imagined opponent or threat.

Good for Twitter, which I am not on.
Maybe Facebook might take a lesson.

Obama, Comey, FBI, Mueller, Ukraine, Biden, Schiff, and now Antifa...this is not only a sign of a sociopathic liar, but also a mentally ill paranoid.

Fact is.....

Facebook employees stage a virtual walkout over Zuckerberg's inaction on Trump posts

Some Facebook employees staged a virtual walkout on Monday to protest CEO Mark Zuckerberg's decision not to take action on a series of controversial posts from President Donald Trump last week, a person familiar with the plans told CNN Business.

As part of the walkout, employees took the day off work. Managers at Facebook have been told by the company's human resources department not to retaliate against staff who are planning to protest, or to make them used paid time-off, the source told CNN.
The New York Times first reported the protest.

The walkout comes alongside a rare wave of public dissent from Facebook employees on Twitter. Jason Stirman, a design manager at Facebook, said he disagreed with Zuckerberg's decision to do "nothing" about Trump's recent posts. "I'm not alone inside of FB. There isn't a neutral position on racism," he wrote in a tweet on Saturday.

"Giving a platform to incite violence and spread disinformation is unacceptable, regardless who you are or if it's newsworthy," Andrew Crow, head of design for Facebook's Portal devices, tweeted over the weekend. "I disagree with Mark's position and will work to make change happen."

A Facebook spokesperson told CNN Business: "We recognize the pain many of our people are feeling right now, especially our Black community. We encourage employees to speak openly when they disagree with leadership. As we face additional difficult decisions around content ahead, we'll continue seeking their honest feedback."
The public pushback from employees comes after growing scrutiny of Facebook's inaction. Last week, Twitter for the first time affixed a fact-check label to multiple Trump tweets about mail-in ballots and days later put a warning label on a tweet from Trump about the protest, in which he warned: "when the looting starts, the shooting starts." While identical posts appeared on Facebook, the company chose to do nothing.
"I've been struggling with how to respond to the President's tweets and posts all day. Personally, I have a visceral negative reaction to this kind of divisive and inflammatory rhetoric," Zuckerberg wrote in a Facebook post on Friday. "But I'm responsible for reacting not just in my personal capacity but as the leader of an institution committed to free expression."

Trump and Zuckerberg spoke on the phone Friday, a source familiar with the call previously told CNN.

So what does it say about those that still follow him? Or better yet, what does it say about those who defend him at every turn over every conspiracy, accusation, and lie?

I have never used Twitter, most likely never will, but I applaud them for uncovering this, and yes, Facebook needs to start dong the same or else they are contributing to Americans and others being deceived and lied to.
