Want lower rates? Stop electing Republicans who get huge buckets of campaign money form the health care industry, and act accordingly.

Does that mean that there were no increases until the Rs took over?

Does that mean that Obama did not have to send money (on his own - not enacted by the Congress) to the insurance companies to cover their losses??

See - sometimes facts are needed, pure hatred doesn't do the trick.

Facts are still missing. When one understands the health care system they know why the Insurance Cos. are given money to keep the rates down by the Govt. It is the same as the high risk pools which the far right love. There have been increases in health care costs for the last 50 years. You want to end them then go single payer.

Exactly my point. Money was given to the insurance companies to keep their rates artificially lower so as to not show the real cost of Obamacare.

As to socialized medicine - the cost of food has risen over the past 50 years too. That does not mean I want the government in charge of all food production and distribution. Stalin tried that - it failed.

Good point. Republicans need to stop farm subsidies to outfits like Dole, ConAgra, Purina, etc. Agree?

Since food is as essential as medical care, are you proposing that the government take over the production and distribution of all food??  Think of it as a "single payer Piggly-Wiggly".

Could be they have. The largest farm in land size is owned by a Govt. It is irrigated by a system that was built and paid for by the Fed. Govt., and that includes a dam with a large lake. The dam generates electric for a city owned electric Co., which has not raised the price of the electric produced in about 25 years. Two states have created state parks around the lake, and are making money from that from fees. The farm sells in the world market also, and has created a trucking co. to carry what it grows to a rain head, and leases land to a Christian Group to grow things on it, and to meat producers to graze cattle. The farm also processes some of what it grows for market. It is a large employer and business in the area it is located in.

Looks like what you talk about might have happened. See what happens when one knows the subject .

Or when someone knows a little story and tries to blow it up into something big. In this case - the federal government producing and distributing all our food.

I can assure you everything I posted is true. Here is some more. When the water leaves the dam and returns to the river it has created a world class fishing area. People from all over the US come to fish there. It has created a business for quite a few people. The river then supplies water to about 200,000 people before it hits its next dam and has joined  other rivers. It then creates more electric power which allows Phoenix to exist, and it supplies water for farms in 2 more states for food. The Govt. arranged all of this and owns the dams. It then hits its 3rd dam which the Govt built. That supplies power for Phoenix, Las Vegus, Los Angles and smaller towns in between, plus water for food you eat. I could go on. See how your socialism works in the uS for us all. By the way if you live in eastern Texas the Govt. supplied a tunnel for water to flow east which allows farming in Texas, plus drinking water. When one know the subject it is easy to tell all what it does, when one does not know the subject the best they can do is try and say it is not true. Our far right great tactic used in the White House every day.

I have no doubt but that everything you have posted is true. However, this started with the thought that if the government should provide our healthcare because it is so important, should they also not provide our food since it too is needed.

_______________________________________________________

You are correct Govt. should provide healthcare to all, and it does. Anyone can go to the ER and get health care when ever needed reguardless of weather they can pay for it or not. Now with that out of the way what we are really talking about is what is the best, and most cost effective way. That is simple. Single payer system gives the lowest rates for insurance. Now how do we cut costs for the health care provided. A start would be drug prices. Reduce them just like every other country does. Tax Cos. like medical device mfg. who are provided a large customer base under single payer free. You shift their cost from adv. to cost control. They will make more money as they have more customers. Now we have a start with the Govt. taking the lead as it should.
