So, rather than attacking the honesty of this move why not be honest and push for free education at any level.

The left has brought up including four years of college to be included in our public education. Every time the left has brought this up in this forum the right has protested that idea. Are you now supporting college being included in our public school systems?

A reminder ............. school isn't free and no one has claimed it to be. Taxes pay for public school systems. But of course many Cons seem to think that low taxes are more important than the education of our children.

I googled the issue and came up with two interesting things. One was a childish "Betsy Wetsy" piece of nothingness and the other was what the proposal is actually about "....only the federal government has oversight over the companies collecting federal student loans, shielding them from state regulators and lawmakers".

It is federal management of federal loans. Not really all that terrible, is it.

As a matter of fact, the Central government could assign kids to schools based on the jobs they plan to assign them later.

Why don't we assign them where they are to live?

How about what religion, if any, they need to follow?

What about choosing their food choices?

Limiting the numbers of children?

Type vehicle driven?

Determine who is too sick to continue to provide medical attention for?

Sounds like your idea of a "central government" could catch on.

Wonder if anybody, anywhere, has tried it before?

Yep, you got the message.

Establishing a "loan" system and then cancelling the requirement for repayment is not a loan - it is a give away. So, rather than attacking the honesty of this move why not be honest and push for free education at any level.

That would also be an opportunity to insure that students were studying the right stuff - fulfilling the needs of the Nation. As a matter of fact, the Central government could assign kids to schools based on the jobs they plan to assign them later.

How 'bout that, scout?

It will definately put an end to the current crop of 15 to 25 year olds chance of ever doing as well as their parents did

Gen X and Millennials  aren't going to put up with the baby boomers, they're going to push them out, and the boomer politics will go with them.

Our parents  were the greatest generation, the boomers are the most selfish generation, but age and demographics will delegate the boomers to park benches and graves.

New generations are taking over leadership, the days of the boomers are in their sunset.

We have to remember that donald doesn't give two hoots about anyone who is outside his income class.    He never drained the swamp - he filled it with more, just like him.    I will never understand how his supporters  continue to be so stupid.

Munchkin is whining because he went to UCLA and got booed.   he wants the video destroyed.    GOP snowflakes are not accustomed to being outside their bubble and interacting with the real world.

(Reminder:  Donald has been running for re-election since Feb 2017) - which means that he can screen all people who go to his rallies and remvoe anyone who disagrees with him) ....the Bubble President and his ignoble followers.

Disgusting and unacceptable by anyone who cares about the future of America. The NRAGOP is the party that nominated Romney who advised students who could not afford college to BORROW FROM THEIR PARENTS! The GOPerLords are indeed blind to the results of their efforts to deregulate the loan industry simply because they and their kids never have to borrow money at more than the prime rate and never for piddly sums like college tuition. Their backers in the loan industry have already moved the Mafia-loanshark into the main stream by allowing "payday loans" at rates that would make Don Corleone blush.

To further prove the NRAGOPs total disregard for the Middle Class, Trump's administration has just DROPPED the case begun by the Obama Administration against a lender who was charging 950% interest. Republicans think having to pay 950% interest is honkey dorey because the alternative would be for the Government to prevent it from happening, and THAT is, in the blind eyes of Republicans, GOVERNMENT OVERREACH. (that's the term NRAGOPers use when they're talking about preventing fraud against the 99%).

devos brings to the fore, why is this person heading up a department to oversee education? Who previously had not seen the inside of a public school classroom.

What I really appreciate about your post is that you point out consequences of bad policies and legislation. And currently trump and his department heads seem to have no concept of impact on average Americans. Of course all of their decisions are top loaded to upper income people, and the heck with the rest of the citizenry. And sometimes it really seems that they have no clue as to what they are doing...exhibit A, donald.

Disgusting isn’t it?
