Automakers will now be forced to mass produce electric vehicles unless Trump can undo EPA’s new fuel...

https://electrek.co/2017/01/16/automakers-mass-electric-vehicles-trump-epa-fuel-consumption/

The 2025 determination is not a new regulation, so the EPA, under Trump, would likely have to go through an extensive process before withdrawing the determination, and could face lawsuits from environmental groups if they took that step.

Even if automakers could see the potential for the rule to be reversed and the fuel consumption standard lowered, they could decide to accelerate their investments in EVs in order to edge against the rule staying in place and having to pay fines if they miss the target – especially if the new administration decides to focus on other matters.

Can Trump drop the tax credit himself?  Or does he need Congress to do that?

I don't know.   But there's got to be "some" limit to this guy's power....

Trump strangles electric car in its cradle

Der Trumper has killed the electric car, and with it any hope for avoiding the disaster that will come with climate change. Agent Orange announced he'll roll back President Obama's Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency (CAFE) requirements, which had been set at 54.5mpg by 2025, and drop tax incentives for buyers of electric cars.

70% of the oil consumed in the USA goes for transportation. Shifting to electric cars and vans in the cities would not only end our need for imported oil, it would make the air breathable 24/7 and drastically reduce our contribution to global warming. The new industry would employ millions and the technology would be exported to the rest of the World.

Donny is dumb enough to think the aphorism "tomorrow never comes" means we'll never have to pay for our mistakes today. Just another reason he's so popular with his base.
