Re: Trump's Mar-a-Lago mini vacations cost taxpayers over $64 Million

It is hypocritical and partisan for someone to continually bash the Obamas for taking vacations but remain silent when trump spends much much more and breaks promises in doing so. Trump spends multiple times more on golf vacations while making his own properties huge profits from taxpayer dollars. Yet not a peep from  our vacation expert/critic.

Trump's Mar-a-Lago mini vacations cost taxpayers over $64 Million

I keep hearing about how Trump should be allowed to keep his campaign promises.  He promised a wall......he also promised that Mexico would pay for it. Hardly a detail. He promised he would not play golf.  He plays almost every day.  He promised he would not have time for a vacation, he goes away every weekend and we now know the cost has been north of $64 million in taxpayer dollars.

The total? Just under $14 million, for an average cost of $3.4 million per trip. That includes about $8.5 million spent by the Defense Department and $5 million by the Department of Homeland Security. It also includes about $60,000 paid directly to Mar-a-Lago itself, $24,000 of which was for lodging for Defense Department personnel and $36,000 for operational space used by DHS.

Trump also canceled a joint military exercise with the government of South Korea last year, citing the cost of the exercise. That cost? About $14 million — the cost of those first four trips Trump took to Florida.
