Can you back this up with facts and sources?  Or is this opinion?

I believe I've heard something similiar in references about another country.

Yes it is fact. It is happening and if you watch TV you will see it first hand. There was a family on that had been separated some time ago, and were released except one child a girl. The family is living in Chicago now, but the child is still being held, and they have not been able to get her released. They do get phone calls from her. That is our country. No different than Germany only we have Trump instead of Hitler. It will get worse have no fear as Trump grabs more power, and his SS gets used to hurting people.

The situation is quite clear but gets complicated by posters insisting on using irrational emotionalism to hide logic. Example - if a person comes to a border crossing with  child asking for asylum, they are not separated. But if, instead, they cross illegally, possibly employing a  "coyote" to smuggle them in, different rules apply

With vile Stephen Miller behind it all, I am certain that this was the intended outcome.  As much human damage as possible.

Stephen Miller has bragged that separating families is his idea...

He's the despicable hate-filled creep that has to hire human females in order to get them to spend any amount of time with him...

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/ny-news-separating-children-health-consequences-20180616-story.html

Trump policy of separating families could have long-term health consequences for children

The Trump administration’s policy of forcibly separating children from their parents at the border is more than callous — it’s ruinous.

Pediatricians unanimously say that Trump’s “zero tolerance” policy on immigration can negatively impact children’s health in the short- and long-run, leading medical professionals to join the chorus of people protesting the policy.

“The effect of this type of event will follow these children into adulthood and into their entire lives,” Dr. Ana Maria Lopez, president of the American College of Physicians told CNN.

The American Psychological Association on Thursday penned an open letter to President Trump calling for an immediate change to his administration’s immigration policy.

What do a bunch medical professionals know?

American College of Physicians, The American Psychological Association, pffft , eggheads and pencil pushers.

Traumatizing these families is good for them, makes them tough, and it's good for America too, shows them Mexicans ( or where ever it is they come from ) that we're strong and we mean business.
