Re: Trump cornered on border wall

Here's how this started:

Do Democrats want open borders?

No. Democrats have backed plenty of legislation that restricts immigration.

In February, the Senate voted on a bipartisan plan to spend $25bn over 10 years to expand the various physical barriers along the border and to protect the Dreamers, the estimated 3.6 million undocumented people who came to the US unlawfully as children. Trump rejected that bill.

Now lil donny insists we build 240 miles of wall in the desert that serves only his vanity and the racism of his base. He shudda took what was offered instead of listening to Rush and Annie.

No he didn't.

Yes, he did!

Did you listen to your own link?  That was Shutdown Schummer who said those words.  Pres Trump said "I am proud to shut down the government for Border Security...because the people of this country don't want criminals...."

So quick to attack and so slow to listen........

And thank you for posting that so-called meeting again....it shows how non-transparent Nanny is (as Chuck can't even look at the President).  THOSE are the sort of meetings we SHOULD be able to see because right after that Nanny and Chuck rushed to the mics and lied about what was said.

It's interesting how anxious Pelosi was to 'shutdown' the meeting and only want to talk about it 'behind closed doors'.  It was obvious why..thanks for sharing.

You are quick to point out Trump's full statement when taking credit for shutting down the government. Are you also going to use his full statement about Mexico paying for the wall?

I was 'quick to point out' President Trump's full statement because the usual lies were being posted by those who have selective hearing.  Of course we all heard Pres Trump say Mexico would pay for it and who's to say they won't eventually?  I do believe they'll pay one way or the other.  Right now they're paying for the illegals living in their country.

Pelosi and Schummer have said many things too, but they haven't happened, so I guess they lie also.  We'll soon see if she negotiated or not (as she said she would) if Pres Trump re-opened the government (which he opened for those not getting paid and not for Nanny).

Why do you consider it not possible for McConnell to support the campaign promises that got his President elected?

'Supporting " trump's campaign promises is not his job. McConnell doesn't want to risk his wife's or brother-in-law's removal from their appointments.

Read carefully, I was not discussing "his job".

You mince words. McConnell's "job" is not to support Trump's campaign promises. Part of his "job" was to put proposed legislation on the Senate floor for a vote, not to block legislation.

McConnell owes trump and is beholding to him for appointing his wife and brother-in-law. He is letting it interfere with doing his job, what he was elected for.

The bill you refer to did not have the President's requirement for border security. How many different ways are you going to dodge that?

You mean like you continually dodge any attempt to get you to explain how a shutdown where the Republican House, Republican Senate and Republican President could not reach any agreement is somehow Nancy Pelosi’s fault? If any bill came to a vote and the sole reason it failed was because of the Democratic House members, you might have a case. Until then I will know that you are just making excuses to protect Trump.

No, I mean like exactly what I said. And that did not include that it is "somehow Nancy Pelosi's fault".

Are you now backing away from your claim that the shutdown was Nancy Pelosi’s fault?

Hmm. so you are NOT advocating a freaking wall to be built in the middle of the freaking desert?  You need to talk to the Trump-meister then because that is where he plans to put it.

Trump made his position clear, saying he will “take the blame” if some federal agencies close.

“If we don’t have border security, we’ll shut down the government,” Trump said, later adding, “I am proud to shut down the government for border security.”
