easyed598:  Common sense says that China will still buy our soy beans from our farmers . They can` t grow enough to feed their own people because of  their antequated farming.

Have you ever seen farming in China? If not how do you know they can not grow more soy beans? The answer to both my questions is no you do not. I have seen farms in China, and as they move forwarded in farming they can if they want to. They are starting to import more Soy from Russia and the railroad to deliver it is in place, and so are the farms in Russia. China is increasing Soy imports from South America. Our farmers have said they will have a hard time getting this market back once it moves, and they care correct. The enablers once again prove they have not a clue on this subject, and prove what the experts have told us is correct about them.

What???  We are bigger comsumers of Chinese products than they are of ours.  That's why Trump started this stupid  trade war to begin with.  We will pay more for Aluminum, steel, even in the energy section..  If Trump wants to buy American he needs to pay the American worker what Chinese workers are making or hike the price up where no one can afford it.  A trade war wasn't necessary.

Excellent points. And here's something that makes another interesting point.

Der Trumper's $12billion bribe for bean growers won't even cover the losses being racked up in IOWA. Then he'll try and do something for the pork producers who are also getting shellaced by Donny's stupidity. Probably need to give some help to folks who make things out of the steel and aluminium he's jacked up the prices on as well. Sounds like Der Trumper will bring that old Russian staple COLLECTIVIZATION OF AGRICULTURE to the US of A - certain to make his PupPet Master Vlad very proud - perhaps he'll even reconsider the playdate he cancelled and donny will stop crying.

Bottom line is the infantile moron has wrecked what had been a $140.5 BILLION export market because he likes bullying people and will not listen to anyone.

@mickstuder Mick, yes something is not right with this picture, but I think it is due to trump’s “magic” touch!

He proposes a stupid policy to fix something which is not broken, just needs some adjusting.

Then makes policy even worse by creating a diversionary tactic to divert attention from another crisis that he created.

Then proposes a solution to make himself look like a hero and fixer...but makes situation worse!

Once again we are left with a mess.

What’s not right? We have trump driving the bus, who has no clue about what he is doing and is only interested in media exposure and feeding his base.

Tell me that this does not look just like the immigration scenario and current trump mess created with it.

Americans are being asked to Subsidize American Farmers Becuase Trump Tariffs are preventing them from selling to Chinese Consumers........ WHY ???????????????????????????

Maine seafood, driven by lobster, was the state’s top export commodity in 2017. This makes the fifth straight year seafood has been Maine’s leading export commodity. In terms of dollar value, 2017 represented the second highest amount of seafood exported from Maine.

Maine seafood exports were $469.8 million for 2017. The vast majority of seafood exported was Maine lobster, with over $325.5 million in live lobster and $6.3 million in frozen lobster exported. U.S. lobster exports were $637.9 million in 2017.

More than 80% of U.S. lobsters are landed in Maine, meaing a lot of Maine lobsters are being shipped abroad.

China Growth Continues

The biggest growth market for U.S. lobster continues to be China. U.S. lobster exports to that country reached their highest level to date, with over $128 million in live lobster exported in 2017. The figure is even more impressive when you consider that 2010 was the first year Maine’s lobster exports exceeded $1 million.

Guernsey said he's already seeing the negative effects play out in the farming community. Mexico, he said, is one of the top partners for beef products. "And we can't afford to lose that market whatsoever," Guernsey said.

In fact, nearly $14 billion worth of soybeans exported to China will be impacted by tariffs. That's roughly one third of the total soybean production in 2017. With the new tariffs in place, many farmers fear China will cancel soybean shipments to the U.S. for the remainder of the year.

One in four pigs raised in the U.S. is sold overseas, and the Chinese are the world's top consumers of pork. Missouri is one of the top 10 states in pork production.
