"Buy American" ????  In the very recent past, when the Left here proposed that, the Right and supposed independents made statements like "I'll shop for the best price and buy it, doesn't matter where it is made". When the Left here criticized Walmart and others for selling so many foreign goods, the Right criticized them for it. What has suddenly happened to change this?

If the price of goods go sky high and the economy crashes, certain trump supporters will still say that trump is doing a good job and blame the economy on something or someone else. The blind following the blind.

The steel industry in the U.S. may like this but all industries using steel hate it. The Right ignores all rational and economic reasons as to why we should not invoke the tariffs.

People of upper middle class and below will be hit hard by this because the price of goods all across the board will increase.

Sure, you can find some who agree and support this but the vast majority of economists are dead set against it for sound economic reasons. Myself, I'll go with that vast majority.

Well, some surprising folks like the idea -

CNBC 03/04/2018 - Trump's steel tariffs are earning him cheers from Democrats and unions—but giving ...

Heard Ex-Gov. Bill Richardson in an interview and he also likes the idea.

For the rest of us, we know tariffs are a 1930s technique which has repeatedly proven to be a failure.

Have you now become a fan of Paul Ryan? Wasn't he the guy who was going to starve old people, take away their health care, and throw granny off the cliff?

He still is that guy.

But now Der Trumper wants to add 5.25 Million workers who build stuff using steel and the 300 million of us who buy stuff made with steel to the old people Ryan's already throwing off the cliff.

lil Pauli is concerned it might cost him the election and he'd have to try and find one of those 10 million good paying jobs he arranged to send to the Commies in Asia.

So, what is your point - CT is wrong?

Steel costs about $1/lb and there's 3000lbs of steel in a midsized car, so by raising the price to $1.25/lb Der Trumper will add $750 to the price of each car, about what the middle 40% will get from his taxscam.

It will also make foreign produced cars $750 cheaper compared to their American made competition, all of which will tend to reduce demand for American made cars, also washing machines, locomotives, ovens, and anything else made with steel.

So who benefits from Der Trumpers tariff war? The ones running the US Steel plants who can now charge 25% more which goes straight to the profit line.

Won't the use the extra profit to build more efficient plants? No

Won't they share the profits with workers? No

the extra profits from the Tariff will go to the same place the Corporate taxscam went - into the pockets of the Corporate Oligarchs.

Did anyone actually think the 99% would benefit? How and why?

the middle 40% will get from his taxscam. Surely you know that some of the middle 40% pay no federal income tax. So, how did they get hurt??

BTW - that $750 is 1/4 of 1 percent of a $30,000 car. That would not even be enough to get Delta to move to GA.
