The left would "love my plan" (hello). I would have the true postcard form income tax return with one line of rules saying pay to the U.S. Government YOUR INCOME * RATE (that you pick). A Flat tax would only be fair if it was on all earnings, not on just what is considered to be income. And then there would still be those who did not earn enough to pay federal taxes because you just can't charge those taxes on persons just above the poverty level, it will take food out the mouths of adults and children and clothes off of their backs. But of course many on the Right care nothing about that.

Any more words of wisdom? Any more words without wisdom?

Apparently you didn't understand my simple formula for income tax. It was income x tax rate = taxes paid.  Income was ALL INCOME. Again I repeat, the left would hate this formula (you included).

Obviously you do not ascribe to the ancient wisdom "Try it before you buy it". So let's hop on and take your flat tax for a trip around the block. Here's the significnat numbers to work with:

1. Total revenue required by Der Trumpers 2018 Budget = $4.094Trillion.

2. Total individual income (all sources) $16.012Trillion

3. Required flat tax (4.094/16.012=) 25.6%

4. Current effective tax rate for third quintile of income = 13.5%

5. Current effective tax rate for top 1% = 33.1%

So the wounderous "flat tax" will jack up middle class taxes by

90% and cut taxes for the Uberrich by 26.6%

Now, if we keep all the other taxes, Corporate, Excise and others (total $2.021T), the amount from personal income tax gets cut to only $2.551Trillion and the required flat rate drops to 16%, so the increase for the Middle Class is only 19% but the cut for the Uberrich 1% goes to 52%, which is nearly as big a cut as they got from Reagan.

No wonder the GOPerLords have told the base to support a flat tax! No matter how much lipstick you put on it, it still redistributes the burden of supporting the Nation from the very rich to the middle class.

The only people who should love a flat tax are the very rich and those who think kissing frogs will get them a Prince.

So stop complaining about the rates or you COULD have my rates and I don't think you would like them. See how much of a free ride you're getting right now? The other benefit of a flat tax would be : liberals would NOT be for squandering money on useless projects.

I only said it because it's true - a reflection of the real world...

You are cordially invited to present verified empirically proved scientific facts demonstrating that the real world is otherwise...

You lost me there.

Shouldn't be a mystery...one of the liberal crowd says something, the rest of the Amen Corner agrees and jumps in with condemnation.  But if not a liberal, it's wrong.  Doesn't matter, you just assume something about helping others when someone believes in anything worth having is worth working for.   That versus the socialist/communistic theory of wealth distribution you apparently are subscribing to.

Why should one continually help someone who doesn't help themselves?  Do you not think that doing so creates dependence rather than financial independence?  Isn't dependence what has been the norm for the nation's welfare program?

The discussion about retirement wasn't about helping others, but of planning for retirement.  Some that apparently didn't plan started it by complaining about those who did.

And to add to my previous post, how to be a good example for others to follow or consider.

How many over the years have you encouraged to make something of their lives, work for it, and help them to achieve in life instead of being a 'taker'?  Without doubt partisan politics here in this discussion has a bearing.
