One of the advantages of having a party which welcomes new ideas is that we can have different types of candidates in each ward of the country. Republicans are now the party of Trump so they are pretty much cookie cutter and a pretty bad cookie at that.  It is why Republican's cannot understand the idea of entertaining different views so they have to pretend one election will change the face of the entire Democratic Party.

"Party of Trump" - alternate view - President Trump represents the current thinking of large numbers of people .....

Yup .... Nazis, white supremacists, KKKers, bigots, racists, men who feel entitled to sexually assault women, child predators ..... NOTHING to be proud about rk!

It is rather narrow minded and offensive to assume that those who support the President's agenda and voted for it (not him) are Nazis, etc.

Actually, Trump's agenda is "narrow minded" ..... focusing on himself and using the Office of the POTUS for his own financial gain.

And appointing bigots and racists to key posts in his administration further promotes his agenda of bigotry and racism!

But then, that is typical of the hate-filled radical left - it's all they have.

No .... the hate -filled include Trump, Nazis, white supremacists, KKKers and other hate mongers that support Trump's narrow minded, bigoted, racist agenda!

A perfect example of the hate filled radical left ranting.

I keep noticing the weirdly similar themes and repetitive use of the same statements in certain RW posts.  Almost as if they were being written by Russian bots. It is interesting that the Russians love to support Trump and the current GOP.

And yes, I'm thrilled that the party is "coming out of the closet" as the party it used to be - the party of progressives. And progressives, not regressives like you and President *****grabber, brought you the five-day work week, child labor laws, minimum wage, and the middle class.

Speaking of complete ignorance, " the party it used to be" is long gone.  While this country has had great presidents from both parties, more of the great ones were democrats.  Today those same presidents would be Republicans.  In fact, today, they would be tarred and feathered and run out of the democrat party on a rail.  A couple of my favorite examples:

JFK - "Ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country."  Today that's a Republican belief.  The democrat belief is "vote for us and we'll give you stuff."

And what self-respecting democrat today would propose having young unemployed men work for room and board and a few dollars for sundries while sending most of their pay to their families?  If they did they'd be laughed right out of your party.  But that is exactly what FDR did with the CCC during the depression.

By the way, the English seemed to understand socialism best.

“The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings. The inherent virtue of Socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.” — Churchill

“The trouble with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money” — Margaret Thatcher

We who know history and think (as opposed to the emotional driven) understand that there is a world of difference between Marxism and Joe Stalin. Others just think with all the depth of "boogeyman" and "old blinkered people".

And yes, I'm thrilled that the party is "coming out of the closet" as the party it used to be - the party of progressives. And progressives, not regressives like you and President *****grabber, brought you the five-day work week, child labor laws, minimum wage, and the middle class.

It never was Progressive, it was Liberal - a vast difference. The Progressivism has been slowly creeping in over many years. And yes, Teddy Roosevelt was as was Wilson.

Things that Americans value. Not tax breaks for bilionaires and corporations that allow them to buy back their stock, reward their shareholders, and move jobs to Chinastan.

Again the two types of people. One type understands that tax cuts go to tax payers. The others believe that the government owns all the money is supposed to distribute it based on "need" not "earning".

But as I said, please carry on in complete ignorance. You're happier that way. For now.

Again the two types of people. One group discusses, the other posts "carry on in complete ignorance".

Ocasio-Cortez is almost a shoe-in, in the general election, in a district that votes overwhelmingly Democrat.   Good for her, though.   Women and people of color are both underrepresented in Congress.

I think our Maryland gubernatorial race will be more telling as to where the Democratic party is going.  We have a moderate Republican governor with a 70% approval rating in a largely Democratic state.   Will Bernie-backed progressive Ben Jealous be able to defeat him?

Signed, a Baker fan.

What is it you think the Republicans misunderstand? From what I have seen, they are cheering the Dems coming out of the closet.
