jmc91 and j868138h,

Why do you believe we still live in the wild west and you need a gun to keep you safe.  Let's think about what would happen if everybody in that room in the Inland Regional Center was armed when the shooter walked in.

  1. The shooter walks in and starts firing.
  2. Some people see who it is, pull out a gun and fire back.
  3. Some people start to get their bearings, see multiple people shooting and start shooting back some at the original shooter, others at the people who started shooting.
  4. , 5, 6, etc.  Same as 3 with the number of people shooting and being shot at escalating.

I don't know why people think they will be calm and level headed in a fire fight. What percentage of bullets fired by the police in a fire fight actually hit their targets?  Not many and officers are trained for the situation.

The myth of a gun keeping you safer is an NRA lie.  I am sure Adam Lanza's mother felt much safer with her gun that she used for her protection.  Oh wait, that gun was used to kill her.

Another liberal lie...you cannot arm yourself to "miloitary standards" at Walmart or other gun shops.  To have a military grade weapon requires a special and very expensive license as well as other extensive checks.  The firearms available at WALMART, Academy, Dicks, Cabelas, etc.  are semi- not fully automatic and except for coloration and external features like picatinny rails used for mounting scopes, lights or other accessories - are NO DIFFERENT from and brown woood stock semi-automatic rifle or shotgun.

Your irrational fear of a "Black" (OOOOOh) AR-style rifle is unjustified and simply advances the narrative of those who oppose the 2nd ammendment while violently supporting the 1st...irrational.

And...while you may take irrational pl;easure and have a sense of security in that - when an event happens to you in your home or elsewhere since you clearly do not own and never would use a gun in self defense or to protect a loved one keep this in mind...

when something really, really bad happens to you or your loved ones...quick dial 911 and hope an operator is there..."when seconds count...the police...are only minutes away --- but --- since they will bring plenty of body bags with them, you and your loved ones will be taken respectfully to the morgue while supporting the gun free zone(s) that criminals never observe...funny thing about that.

The recent California attack would indicate failure of this important function of government.

About that very intense vetting process for people coming here...  We might want to re-visit that process.

If you don't think Obama's "Vetting" isn't working, it certainly is working, much to Obamas joy. Look at the per-cent of those whom he likes, and wants admitted here versus those whom he doesn't want in.

Muslims from Syria= 98% plus

Christians= 2% minus

I'm sure the wise and all knowing Obama realizes those Christians are terrorizing, burning alive, beheading men, women and children throughout the world, while screaming, "Allah Jesus Christ".

Like most liberals, Obama lives in an upside down world.

Terrorists have learned to do their "recon" here in the USA by simply observing and looking for very soft targets.  "Gun Free Zones" seem to be pretty high on their list since they are virtually guaranteed there will be no resistance.

Deterrence through strength is still a sound idea.  Florida is considering converting all current concealed carry permits to open carry permits.  I like that idea.

The male shooter was born here. While other, smaller countries like France have had multiple attacks, we seem only to have to watch for the domestic ones. If we could prevent people from arming themselves to military standards with a simple trip to Walmart, that would help.

Vetting of all American citizens?    How is that not totalitarianism?

Ironically, then the GOP and Alt-Right folks  will demand this bs.  and then turn on a dime and demand more guns via Constitution that they just demanded that it be shred.

     Incoherent - you betcha.

Short of our law enforcement having powers like the Amazing Kreskin, what do you think they can do differently? You need to realize that nothing comes with a 100% guarantee of success and that includes even the best vetting process.
