@JANMB  -  My sentiments exactly! Sanders has been out to destroy the D-party from within since he barely won election (by 10 votes) as mayor of Burlington, VT. From 2016 - - -

"You don’t change the system from within the Democratic Party.”

“My own feeling is that the Democratic Party is ideologically bankrupt.”

“We have to ask ourselves, ‘Why should we work within the Democratic Party if we don’t agree with anything the Democratic Party says?’”

https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2015/08/bernie-sanders-2016-democrats-121181

In 2016, I stated that he should have formed his own party. I stand by that for the reasons Sanders stated himself. He's not a Democrat and never has been.

CriticalThinking  - wrote   It's Trump's total disregard for our constitution, the "Rule of Law", the Free Press, his attacks on our judicial system, the never ending assaults on the FBI, and his attempt to turn the Justice Department into his personal version of the Gestapo.     Finally, no member of the Republican Party is allowed to disagree with or criticize Trump. Tell me that doesn't sound like Hitler.

The above is 100% true.

I  believed in the Democratic Party platform and I'm a registered  democrat.      The so named who call themselves  socialist-democrats should form their own Party and platform.
Trump and Sanders are both channeling anger from people who feel the American dream is no longer within reach:    Rather than check out accomplishments, personal history or a party platform....the public is easily swayed by candidates saying what they want to hear .   In other words talk and promises sell better than facts.

I am terrified this will be the choices come the election for prez.  .

GOODBYE  democracy HELLO  to corrupt businessman liar  King Trump. OR

GOODBYE DEMOCRACY HELLO   to socialist  Comrade Sanders.

Tom, it's amazing how so many ignore Trump's attempts at turning the presidency into a dictatorship. One has to either be blind or a member of his cult to avoid seeing the obvious. I highlighted many of those attacks earlier in this thread.

Throughout our lifetime, we never saw a Republican or Democratic Party where the members were NOT allowed to disagree with the President. In this case, it's the Supreme Leader of the ALL WHITE REPUBLICAN PARTY where no senator or congressman is allowed to disagree with Trump. Sounds like Germany in the 1930s, doesn't it?

Trump parallels with Hitler. Here are just a few, but there are more.

  • Hitler's slogan was "Make Germany Great Again!"
  • Trump's slogan is "Make America Great Again".
  • Hitler's scapegoat were the Jews, Trump's scapegoat are immigrants
  • HItler's minister of propaganda was Joseph Goebbels.
  • Trump's minister of Propaganda is FOX, which will never say anything negative about Trump. And they will report one lie after another to make Trump look good.
  • All dictators understand they must control the press. Trump repeatedly calls the FREE PRESS an "Enemy of the People".
  • Dictators understand they must control law endforcement. Hitler replaced the police with the Gestapo. Trump hired AG Barr to create political control over the Justice Department.
  • etc.

For starters:

Summary of eRumor:
Some have said that Adolph Hitler’s slogan, “Make Germany great again,” is very similar to Donald Trump’s campaign slogan, “Make America great again.”

The Truth:
There’s no historical record of Hitler using the slogan “Make Germany great again.”
It’s true that returning Germany to a position of strength in the world was a central them in Nazi propaganda, but that doesn’t mean Donald Trump got the idea to “Make America great again” from Hitler. After all, restoring strength, or making a nation “great” again, is a generic political idea that has been used over and over again throughout history (more on that later).

And I think that Ronald Reagan used that same slogan. I guess that would make him a Natzi also.

You better go read your support article again. It tells us they could not find a use of that slogan by Hitler that matched what Hitler used as his number one slogan. They did tell us it was one of the things Hitler was doing under a number of other slogans. So the fact is Hitler was using that approach just as Trump is. Did you miss the story of Trump new symbol. Looks very much like what Hitler had. You do know Hitlers symbol came from the USA?  Hitler and Trump are the same.

Make Germany Great again was Hitler's goal. However, that slogan is not what makes Trump very similar.

It's Trump's total disregard for our constitution, the "Rule of Law",  the Free Press, his attacks on our judicial system, the never ending assaults on the FBI, and his attempt to turn the Justice Department into his personal version of the Gestapo.

MaVolta's post was excellent. Thank you for reminding us of what really happened, in addition to Trump rejecting the offer to present a DEFENSE during the impeachment proceedings.

"Further to your point, Nixon and Clinton fully cooperated with the investigations and Congress. Nixon released his tapes, and Clinton was deposed.

Trump obstructed Congress, released no documents, allowed no testimony, gave no deposition, and his lawyers only filled out a form with his signature attached, mostly with answers like "do not recall" which was for the Mueller investigation, not the impeachment hearing."

LouD's post was excellent. However, unlike a Grand Jury, where the prosecutor reigns supreme and the defense doesn't participate, that's not true during an impeachment hearing. For example, I believe both Nixon and Clinton mounted a DEFENSE during their impeachment proceedings.

However, we know for a FACT, that Trump formally rejected the opportunity to present a DEFENSE during the Impeachment proceedings.
