@KidBoy2,

I am not sure why you keep insisting that there is another thread on the same subject.

The thesis of my thread is NOT THAT FOUR REPUBLICANS VOTED AGAINST ASSISTANCE FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT alone as was the thesis of the other thread.

The thesis of my thread had to do with TEXAS refusing aid from DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED GOVERNMENTS WHILE ACCEPTING AID FROM ARAB EMIRS AND ABSOLUTE MONARCHS.

I believe the difference is clear.

There was a refusal of assistance in the form of a vote in Congress (the other thread). There was another example of aid refusal in form of the initial contact with the Province of Quebec and their offer of assistance.

Then there was the acceptance of aid.

The $30,000,000 from an ARAB EMIR and $10,000,000 from those of an ARAB ABSOLUTE MONARCHY.

The acceptances of these sums; addition to, the refusal of aid from Congress, in addition to voting against aid for Hurricane Sandy makes it abundantly clear that TEXAS has a closer relationship with international oil magnates than it does with its fellow states of the union.

The point is this.

If they want to be that independent; then let them. I'm sure there are plenty oil magnates on the international stage  to bail them out.

Four Texas Republicans just voted against Harvey disaster aid

While parts of Texas are still submerged from the historic flooding wrought by Hurricane Harvey, four members of Congress who represent the state voted against sending it billions in federal disaster aid.

FYI...

The four Texas lawmakers who voted no all scrambled to make clear they support the government helping their state recover from rainfall totals so unprecedented that weather forecasters had to invent a new color for their maps. Earlier in the week, the entire Texas delegation voted for an $8 billion package for Harvey victims. After Trump made a deal with Democrats on the debt ceiling and budget, that original package died in the Senate, which instead passed a measure with the additional provisions. The House did the same Friday. Estimates for Harvey cleanup go as high as $150 billion.

Oh Contrare, @KidBoy2, there is no other thread expressing the thesis that TEXAS has turned down assistance from CONSTITUTIONAL GOVERNMENTS while accepting assistance from ARAB countries with the rule of SHARIA LAW.

Not only are you incorrect in your first statement about there being another thread on the same subject; but your second paragraph is OFF TOPIC as it doesn't address the thesis regarding TEXAS'S acceptance of assistance from EMIRS and ABSOLUTE MONARCHS while turning down help from DEMOCRATIC CONSTITUTIONAL GOVERNMENTS.

It just goes to show that the LOVE OF OIL makes for STRANGE BEDFELLOWS.

But who does TEXAS choose to accept aid from??????????

They accepted aid fro THE EMIR of QATAR to the tune of $30,000,000. QATAR, that has as part of its constitution that SHARIA LAW must be followed. QATAR, where stoning is legal punishment. QATAR, where homosexuality can be punished by death.

They accepted aid from THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES to the tune of $10,000,000. UAE, a country where the leader is chosen from a group of ABSOLUTE MONARCHS. UAE, a country that also subscribes to SHARIA LAW.

As with the present occupant of THE WHITE HOUSE, money and principles don't mix.

I guess one day, TEXAS will go to the highest bidder.
