Swing voters approve of Trump’s virus effort, 75% want end of China reliance

BY:  Paul Bedard

The nation’s focus during the coronavirus on its economic reliance on China has prompted a big majority of swing state voters to back a "Made in the USA" agenda as they turn from worrying about their health to switching the economy back on, according to a new survey.

Some 75% told Heritage Action for America’s new Project 2020 that they want manufacturing returned to America, as President Trump has often called for. Said the group, swing voters “support bringing manufacturing back home to end our reliance on Chinese and foreign factories for essential supplies such as masks and medication.”

In the survey of over 8,000 swing and “persuadable” voters in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, North Carolina, and Iowa provided to Secrets this morning, 63% said that they approve of Trump’s handling of the crisis. Just 21% disapproved.

And they appear to support his gradual shift from focusing on fighting the virus to also reopening the economy, as well as a reliance more on businesses than Washington to lead the way.

“Swing voters are concerned about the impact of the coronavirus and generally approve of Trump’s handling of the crisis. Moreover, they are more concerned with health risks than the economy — but the economic concern is growing. This shifting dynamic represents a critical moment for the nation as the coronavirus’s impact on society and the economy begins to eclipse health concerns,” read the analysis of the survey conducted over several weeks.

The survey provided intelligence to the group’s Project 2020 effort to energize conservative voters and woo potential supporters.

“Our survey of swing voters shows what the conservative right has been saying for two weeks: that Americans around the country want to get back to work. Furthermore, and most importantly, these swing voters don't want more government checks. They want jobs to return to and workforce training for future jobs. Lawmakers should listen to the needs of the American people and create legislation to keep businesses afloat during this time of crisis,” said Heritage Action for America Executive Director Jessica Anderson.

Her group’s Project 2020 is a grassroots initiative targeting the swing states. It has reached out to 350,000 households so far. It has trained some 20,000 activists called “sentinels” to call voters to pitch conservative solutions to the nation’s problems and “directly counter the left’s policy foothold on swing voters.”

LOL!!

This was a survey for a reason and not a poll...

Poll and Survey: Definition

Poll:

A poll is a way of knowing people’s choices and understanding what works for them. Polls can help you to measure the success of any event or initiative and are carried out at various stages. The interval at which polls are conducted depends on what kind of data needs to be extracted from the respondents.

In the past, polls were mostly carried out in-person. A question used to be given to a group of people, who were asked to raise a hand to express their opinion. Later came the telephone polls wherein a respondent would be asked to dial a number as an answer. Today in the digital world, polls are conducted online and all a user has to do to answer is just click.

Online polls help in market research by providing data on customers’ preferences and thereby can help create a strategy. If an organization knows better what a customer wants, then chances of their success increases. Polls can also help predict demand and help businesses better prepare themselves for the future.

Learn: How to create a poll

Survey:

A survey gathers information from a set of people, with the purpose of generalizing the results to a larger population. Surveys provide a significant source of data and insights for almost everyone in the information business, from government and private organizations to media and academic institutions.

Thousands of surveys are created every year to understand the choices, preferences, and experiences of customers and employees. Surveys are conducted in different formats and distributed through various mediums. In olden times, surveys were carried out in-person and over the call. Later, these were replaced by pen and paper surveys. Nowadays, most companies run surveys online using free online survey builder tools.

Online surveys consist of different types of questions such as single choice, multiple-choice and open-ended text. When the online surveys were new in the market, it was more or less text or choice based questionnaire, but with the growing use of multimedia over the internet, you can include graphical, matrix, and audio/video questions as well. The responses are gathered through the email, website, QR code or survey mobile app.

Once the responses are collected, you can run different data analytics algorithms and generate meaningful insights in the form of reports. These reports can also be exported in most commonly used formats such as .xls, .pdf or .ppt.

Polls are interesting but they are overrated because the results depend heavily on HOW the questions are asked.

I remember when Obama was the President and they had national surveys on the new health insurance.bill in Congress.

  • If they called it Obamacare in the survey, then the majority of Americans were opposed to the bill.
  • If they called it the Affordable Care Act in the survey, then the majority of Americans were in favor of it.

Yes that is good news. Sadly we just saw people who can not and used the drug Trump pushed, or drank their household cleaner after Trump told them it would cure them. That for sure takes most Trump supporters out of the group you point out.

and there are many who can't or do not, lol. Just sayin.

Too bad for trump that it is a National election in November....he can't handpick and choose which states that can vote.  National polls show him with a 53% disapproval.

How unpopular is Donald Trump?

Is it me or are the regressives having to go more and more granular in announcing who gives Trump any support?  We are used to one sided polls from them but it used to be "Voters approve..". Then it was "GOP Voters approve". Now it is "Swing Voters approve...".  Next it will be "Voters, over 60, living in Cleveland on Arlington Ave.  with their mothers approve....."

Of course people would support that, it's almost a foregone conclusion. But Trump was promising that in 2016, and he hasn't delivered. Why would voters think he would be any different if he got a second term? His modus operandi is to overpromise and underdeliver.

tRump and Ivanka both have the products they peddle made in China. Have they brought that production back to America?  Of course not. They are both liars, they have no intention of having their products made in America and could care less if anyone else does. Lying hypocrites, the both of them.

Of course they're lying hypocrits, but either the base never catches on, or it's ok with them. An example of how Trump cons them is the so called deal to bring Foxconn and oodles of jobs to Wisconsin. He called it the "eighth wonder of the world" (yeah, he really said that). Well..............where is it? State officials say it has been so drastically scaled back it no longer should get subsidies. And on, and on.

Who would suggest only swing voters would support this, most Americans would, including Democrats.  Righties forget NAFTA was supported fully by both houses of Congress where the majority was held by the GOP.  Right Jim?  And wasn't the impetus of NAFTA Reagan's work?  Reagan, the Republicans God....Yet the right tries to blame Clinton, just as the always blame the Dems, just like they do with the economy and the virus.  6 year olds are more accountable than many Republicans.

Hey folks,

Once again, when you try to confirm the validity of a reporters pedigree, you see a resume rife with connections like the Washington Examiner, owned by a billionaire who supports anti-gay, anti-transgender, and anti-abortion movements.

Then you see connections to THE WASHINGTON TIMES. Need I say more, THE WASHINGTON TIMES, the mouthpiece for the UNIFICATION CHURCH OF AMERICA, better known as THE MOONIES CULT.

Come on, @jimc91.

You know people won't believe a word from these spurious sources......... except for you, of course.

NO! IT'S CONSERVATIVES THAT ARE NUTTIER THAN SQUIRREL POOP!

From YOUR link, the poll was taken by calling 350,000 households, and only 8,784 responded, the majority of which identified themselves as conservatives and only 9% identified as Liberals....shocking!!!  There is no idication they were from "Swing States".

Provong once again, it is wise to validate the posts from the right-wing.

LMAO!!!!

Let's pull the curtain back on "Heritage Action" shall we?  How reliable are they?  Who would acccept a poll conducted by the "newsletter"?

Heritage Foundation - Right Bias - Conservative - Republican - Libertarian - Not CredibleFactual Reporting: Mixed - Not always Credible or Reliable
RIGHT BIAS

These media sources are moderately to strongly biased toward conservative causes through story selection and/or political affiliation. They may utilize strong loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes), publish misleading reports and omit reporting of information that may damage conservative causes. Some sources in this category may be untrustworthy. See all Right Bias sources.

  • Overall, we rate the Heritage Foundation Right Biased based on conservative policy positions as well as funding from right leaning organizations. We also rate them Mixed for factual reporting due to promoting misleading claims regarding global warming and the health dangers associated with tobacco.

What's the difference between "Heritage Action" and the "Heritage Foundation"?  The former is completely dependent on the latter for funding, other than contributions from Conservatives and is a far-right propaganda website.  It is NOT a legitimate polling entity...  It does provide far right-wing Conservatives the opportunity to misinform others.

I can't imagine any objective person would accept their polling?  Why would they?

If it's what they want to hear, then they don't care. What they're really achieving is misinforming themselves.
