A win-win by any standards!

If you recall, it was the government (DHS) who originally shot down this idea as unfeasible and too expensive.  It was Trump, and only Trump, who revived the rhetoric.  Sanctuary cities have called his bluff and said they would welcome the immigrants.  Also don't forget, it was Trump, and only Trump, who revived it as a ploy to "punish the Democrats".  He is a child.

But seriously, what would it accomplish?  Now you release immigrants into cities that do not actively spend their resources to assist the federal immigration authorities and American cities have open borders.

Reread the OP of this thread.

Of course it is expensive. But is it any more expensive to send people to San Francisco than TuLsa? They have to be put someplace, as someone put it, "Like unwanted dogs". Is an "Unwanted dog" any happier in Tulsa than San-Fran?

Obama came up with the idea to cage those poor brown kids who crossed the border.

Actually ManicProgressive, it could save us taxpayers a bundle.

Currently, lil donny is paying the for-profit prisons $760/DAY to put kids in cages inside abandoned Walmarts.

A SUITE in the Washington Trump Tower goes for $699/night, leaving $61 for food, and even in DC that would feed you pretty well.

Of course there's only a couple hundred rooms, and donny is driving to lock up tens of thousands, so many would have to be placed in less sumptuous accommodations, like the Mayflower for only $515/nite.

$760 per night is ridiculous. They should bring back the Obama cages.

President Obama never separated families or put kids in cages. Those procedures were instigated by the ToadPOTUS to harm poor brown children and win the cheers of his misanthropic worshipers. Its working as intended.

Under President Obama, families were given a court date and ankle bracelets and allowed to live with friends or family until their court date. Over 96% showed up for the court date, and most of the "missing" 4% left the country.

lil donny locked up the FAMILIES, but the kids can only be held for a matter of days, and when that time was up, they were ripped from their mothers' arms and sent to live in the $775/day for-profit cages in abandoned Walmarts and the mothers were deported so they will NEVER be able to hold their children again. Trump supporters created the kids-in-cages procedure to make a fortune from doing egregious harm to poor brown people while the worshipers cheered. (New figures from HHS give the "per diem" for caged kids as $775, up from the Feb figure of $760)

So just how much is Cadet Bonespurs willing to spend from YOUR tax dollars to destroy the lives of refugees whose only crime is wanting to become an American?

To take a migrant child from her parents at a U.S. point of entry, place her in a just-erected government tent city, and keep her separated from family costs the federal government a whopping $775 per child per night, according to the Department of Health and Human Services — more than twice what it would cost to house the children in detention with their families, and nearly six times more than a brigadier general's or rear admiral's housing allowance for New York City.

The humanitarian crisis at the border was created by the ToadPOTUS and the Republican Party. Removing them will end the crisis.

If I understand you, this whole border flap is not about enforcing our borders - it's only about the President hating poor brown kids and gets his jollies ripping them from their mothers' arms. Is that about it???

I agree $775 is ridiculous - find those Obama cages or more Safeways out of business. Or get the 9th Circuit to allow the families to stay together.

BTW wanting to be an American citizen is not a crime. Wanting to be rich is not a crime - robbing the bank to accomplish it is. Their crime has to do with illegal acts not "wanting".

I still don't think you understand what Conservatives mean when they bestow the label "Sanctuary City". It is one which refuses to expend time, money, or resources enforcing laws which are the responsibility of the Feds to enforce.  In this way, they keep those monies for the benefit of their own citizens.

You will note it is exactly the opposite of the narrative you are attempting to portray.

If your local police capture a kidnapper, they hold him/her and notify the FBI (federal crime) in the same manner that liberals object to illegal aliens violating federal law by being here! You can't have it both ways.

That's the party of rejection of Big Government, but when it comes to certain areas then they want BIG government.  Hmm, so which is it?
