Sections of new border wall already crumbling

ProPublica and the Texas Tribune reported Thursday that a segment of the wall along the Texas-Mexico border was showing dangerous “signs of erosion“ only months after being completed.“Six engineering and hydrology experts consulted by ProPublica and The Texas Tribune said it was concerning to see the level of erosion around the fence so soon after construction and added that segments of the steel structure could topple into the river if not fixed.“

Yep. This has all the hallmarks of a project run by Trump.

From the article. Just more incompetence on the part of Trump.  Even he is claiming this was done to make him look bad............and it does.

On Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Randy Crane instructed attorneys to work out details of the inspection and to come to an agreement about fixes for a part of the 3-mile fence that violates a treaty with Mexico by deflecting too much water during floods. Crane is overseeing a lawsuit brought by the federal government and the neighboring National Butterfly Center over the construction of the fence and its potential threat to the Rio Grande.

You seem to be unable to escape your bias... in spite of the article, that is presented in an unbiased way.

Another round of 00 buck, even though we KNOW that horse is dead.

I think we're done here unless you have something new and true.

It is nice you found the article and it proved what I posted was true. You can find another article about the one in NM if you want.

Now would you like to apologize for calling my post not True.

As usual, a misrepresentation of the facts is what you cite as your sources. Th entire discussion was based on a statement... the new border wall is crumbing. A picture was presented as evidence... I pointed out CORRECTLY the wall section that was "leaning" over in the picture had not yet had the concrete foundation poured and was being propped up by the construction crew. That was the evidence presented.

Then the conversation took another route/diversion and tried to connect president Trump to the wall along the Rio Grande that has an erosion issue... the privately built wall. I corrected that false narrative MULTIPLE times... and yet the conversation went into the weeds.

So to create clarity I posted the unbiased article that presented both sides of an unrelated issue to the OP.

I apologize for failing to help you understand the facts and stay focused on the topic. I know it's hard for you and we are all rooting for your success. I will continue to try and improve, as time goes on.

Now ... cite your sources.

You better go back and read the article that started this thread. The person who started the tread support article was right on. It even has a photo of Trump looking at the wall. I told you that what the person who started the thread was true and it was. Later on someone brought the new border wall  in CA into the discussion. You are totally confused on all of this and that is sad. The Rio Grande wall is a new wall paid for by Trump Supporters, on land from a trump supporter, by Trump supporter contractor. That is even in your new support article from Texas. That is what I told you to do, and you did it and found out I was correct from the support article you posted.

Now by your posts you seem to think it can be fixed. You could be dead wrong on that. There could be one big problem to fixing the wall. Fact is the wall might even have to be torn down.

Since you know the full subject tell me how you think they will get around it.

The reason the private financed wall is dropping into the river is it was placed too close to the water, and the soil around it is "subsiding". As for adding concrete to fix the problem, you might want to see how such moves worked for all those nice homes built beside Lake Michigan that are now all IN Lake Michigan.

Like his liegelord tRump the builder was INCOMPETENT,  and just like the folks who designed the original Tacoma Narrows (Galloping Gertie") suspension bridge learned, once it's built, you can't fix stupid.

Honored Social Butterfly

Ok now pay attention, this is important... you're conflating two different sections of wall.

1.)  (the leaner in question) was under construction and in San Diego. That's the one that did not have the concrete poured and was sited as "collasping"

2.) ... the other  wall along the Rio Grande has washouts/erosion from flooding.

If by now y'all can't connect the dots and pull yourselves out of the weeds well then....

This thread is the equivalent to herding cats🙀

The wall is what it is .... a useless monument to Trump's stupidity!

As General Patton was referenced herein as a source of knowledge ..... please recall that he said walls were "monuments to man's stupidity".

As such, Trump's wall is a monument to his stupidity. And the fact that the wall can be so readily penetrated further supports that belief!

The wall is indeed crumbling. But it doesn't need to crumble to defeat itself.

The wall was defeated from its initial conception wherein it can be so easily penetrated ...... including simply launching drugs over it ..... the drug running it was supposed to stop!

If they are "monuments to our stupidity", don't worry too much.  Liberal loons are tearing ALL statues/monuments down!  Destruction of this country as we know it is their goal.

Broken record post. See Albert Einsteins advise on repetition.

I think we exhausted the possibility of the left learning something. Carry on without me.

It is kind of sad to realize that there are Americans who will defend Trump and his crazy ideas even as the results of those ideas are falling into the Rio Grande.

@Richva

We've been through this already. The wall is not falling into the Rio Grand, that's just not true. You're repeating a false narrative.

The private wall along the Rio Grande has experienced undermining from flooding and without upgrades "some" experts believe it could fall. This isn't the current administration doing.

The link below is the most comprehensive article I know of and is neither showing favor or against... but includes all the good and bad about the PRIVATE project.

@Richva  So this thread is not about concern for the wall, (like i first thought)  just another excuse for some of ya'll to attack President Trump.

Well, regarding the "crumbling" wall...  IF there's a problem i'm sure our President will make sure it gets fixed.  After all, this wall is going to keep our country and the legal citizens in it safer and President Trump is all about America and our citizens first.  Unlike biden who is first of all too ill to be leader of anything let alone this great country AND is leaning more and more towards socialist/liberalism that will make this country the disaster that California, New York and Chicago (just to name a few) are!  Biden hasn't done anything for this country in his almost 50 yrs in politics. What makes ANYBODY think he's going to do anything he says NOW?!?!

You can lead a Liberal to knowledge, but you can't make'em THINK! 😞

Sure .... just like Trump supporters "were sure" he would make Mexico pay for his asinine wall!

Playing golf and holding rallies for himself while America is being devastated by a deadly virus clearly indicates otherwise!

As this is Texas land and wall, some of us do pay attention and read the information put out by a Texas group ( the Tribune) which is as unbiased as you can get.

Tommy Fisher billed his new privately funded border wall as the future of deterrence, a quick-to-build steel fortress that spans 3 miles in one of the busiest Border Patrol sectors.

Unlike a generation of wall builders before him, he said he figured out how to build a structure directly on the banks of the Rio Grande, a risky but potentially game-changing step when it came to the nation’s border wall system.

Fisher has leveraged his self-described “Lamborghini” of walls to win more than $1.7 billion worth of federal contracts in Arizona.

But his showcase piece is showing signs of runoff erosion and, if it’s not fixed, could be in danger of falling into the Rio Grande, according to engineers and hydrologists who reviewed photos of the wall for ProPublica and The Texas Tribune. It never should have been built so close to the river, they say.

Just months after going up, they said, photos reveal a series of gashes and gullies at various points along the structure where rainwater runoff has scoured the sandy loam beneath the foundation.

“When the river rises, it will likely attack those areas where the foundation is exposed, further weakening support of the fence and potentially causing portions ... to fall into the Rio Grande,” said Alex Mayer, a civil engineer professor at the University of Texas at El Paso who has done research in the Rio Grande basin.

https://www.texastribune.org/2020/07/02/texas-border-wall-private/

The RW will more than likely believe a lawyer than experts.   Do they know that El Paso is on the border and the Rio Grande is right there?   Probably not.

The tactic we see on the right is the old "Well, THAT example of his incompetence does not count because..............".

I believe the subject matter experts were quoted in the newspaper article quoted in my original post.
