@alotofgrey- so does that mean that the many humdreds of Kibbutz organizations are communist enclaves within Israel?

What of the Amish?

isn't it a fact that H.Sapiens has successfully and functionally lived in communal socialistic village social structures far longer than twice as long as the concept of capitalism has existed - much less been attempted?

Couldn't it be said that socialism is a major inherent part of man's cultural heritage?

All this anti-socialism and anti-communist stuff is nothing but greedy quasi-human **bleeps** trying to justify their greed and dishonesty.

The failure of all attempts at Communism and Socialism does not mean there aren't advocates despite the fact neither works or can be made to work. Today we still call them Communists and Socialists.

But isn't this a mistake in view of the fact that there are many countries that do function with many socialist programs in their societies? And they cannot be considered Communists by the definition that we all have or think we have?

It is a Communist or Socialist country if all means of production (companies) are government owned and operated. That's it.

There are no "Socialist" programs. The idea that any government provided service like rule of law, food stamps, sewers, universal education, pension, health insurance , military, whatever, is unique to any form of government is nonsence.

Socialism today is practiced in most developed countries as a means or satisfying the needs of the citizens efficiently and at a reasonable cost. Whenever America competes economically against one of these Democratic Socialist countries we only hear about how unfair the competition is because of centrally paid universal health care, centrally managed pension systems, government provided child care, etc.

When the "American system" provides these services for all its citizens with better outcomes and lower costs that the Democratic Socialist countries, come talk to me about the benefits of using a free market approach for these human needs.  Until then, the facts do not support the RWNJ argument and even our business community wants to change things.

 Richva,

Markets? Free markets? Competition? What the heck are you talking about? There are no markets in a Socialist country. All companies in a Socialist country are government owned and operated. There is no market anything in a Socialist country.

Your idea that some government provided service like rule-of-law, health care, sewers, military, pension, whatever, has something to do with Socialism is propaganda nonsense.

As far as your efficient and cost effective comment goes. The Venezuela "Socialist" government has moved food availability in that country from export, to import, to famine.

Well, there IS that....

btw, Cuba considers itself a Democracy.

By the way, often coutries and people are mistaken a good  portion of the time.

Yes they are as we see here quite frequently like when a poster stated the military parade was going to be when Putin visited in September.

But who gets to decide what type of government a country has?  I'd suggest it isn't a foreigner.

Agreed - it is the voters acting withing the Constitution.
