Russia Hacks French Election - Just Coincidence

Ok so Russia has now Hacked a Candidate running agaisnt another Far Right-Wing Candidate in the French Election and released thousands of Documents meant to help defeat the Moderate running for President and get another Right-Wing Finatic elected in a Major World Power...................................First we had the Right-Wing Freak Show - Theresa May in England - now it's possible we might have another Right-Wing Putin Loving Freak Show in France in none other than Marine le Pen who thinks Putin is a Hero and Donald Trump is the second coming of her Fascist Father - Jean Marie Le Pen

Yes Fascist - Read some of his most Right-wing Hate Filled Fear Mongering Comments

1.In May 1987, he advocated the forced isolation from society of all people infected with HIV, by placing them in a special "sidatorium".

2. On 21 June 1995, he attacked singer Patrick Bruel on his policy of no longer singing in the city of Toulon because the city had just elected a mayor from the National Front. Le Pen said, "the city of Toulon will then have to get along without the vocalisations of singer Benguigui". Benguigui, an Algerian name, is Bruel's birth name.

3. In February 1997, Le Pen accused Chirac of being "on the payroll of Jewish organizations, and particularly of the B'nai B'rith"

4. Le Pen once made the infamous pun "Durafour-crématoire" ("four crématoire" meaning "crematory oven") about then-minister Michel Durafour, who had said in public a few days before, "One must exterminate the National Front"

5. On many occasions, before and after the FIFA World Cup, he claimed that the French World Cup squad contained too many non-white players, and was not an accurate reflection of French society. He went on to scold players for not singing La Marseillaise, saying they were not "French".[

6. Le Pen has made several provocative statements concerning the Holocaust which have been interpreted by the legal system as constituting Holocaust denial. He has been convicted of racism or inciting racial hatred at least six times.[20] Thus, on 13 September 1987 he said, "I ask myself several questions. I'm not saying the gas chambers didn't exist. I haven't seen them myself. I haven't particularly studied the question. But I believe it's just a detail in the history of World War II." He was condemned under the Gayssot Act to pay 1.2 million francs

7. In 1997, the European Parliament, of which Le Pen was then a member, removed his parliamentary immunity so that Le Pen could be tried by a German court for comments he made at a December 1996 press conference before the German Republikaner party. Echoing his 1987 remarks in France, Le Pen stated: "If you take a 1,000-page book on World War II, the concentration camps take up only two pages and the gas chambers 10 to 15 lines. This is what one calls a detail." In June 1999, a Munich court found this statement to be "minimizing the Holocaust, which caused the deaths of six million Jews," and convicted and fined Le Pen for his remarks.[33] Le Pen retorted ironically: "I understand now that it's the Second World War which is a detail of the history of the gas chambers."

The political movement of French presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron said it has been hacked and internal information leaked in a cyber-attack hours before polls re-opened in the country's hugely consequential election.

En Marche! said it "was the victim of a massive and coordinated piracy action" and emails, accounting documents, contracts and other materials were disseminated on social media. It said part of the leak involves false documents.

"Those who are circulating these documents added false documents to many original documents in order to sow doubt and misinformation," the En Marche! movement said in the statement.

The timing of the leak, hours before the statutory final-day campaigning ban came into effect, means Macron will not be able to respond to any potential revelations before Sunday's second-round vote, in which he faces a challenge from far right populist Marine Le Pen.

The restriction on campaign activity and local media coverage came into effect at midnight Friday and remains in place until polls close at 8 p.m. (2 p.m. ET) Sunday.

France's electoral commission on Saturday told media outlets not to reproduce any information hacked from Macron's campaign, warning that doing so would be a criminal offence, Reuters reported.

Easy Peasy - as a progressive She'll be able to figure out the answer - something conservatives would have to pay progressives for...  Either that - or like the crook trump - deliberately fail to honor the contract...

mick--Thank you for your post.  Russian interference came up this morning in a townhall meeting.  What a coincidence that 6,000 e-mails damaging to Le Pen's opponent were released so close to France's election.  How can this be denied?  The Russian government keeps supporting the same candidate--the names and faces of said candidates are the only things that change.

Little children hide their heads and hide from the things that scare them or that they don't want to be true.  It's time we all faced the truth about what the Russians have and are doing.

THESE MEDDLINGS ARE NOT FOR THE GOOD OF THE COUNTRIES IN WHOSE ELECTIONS THEY ARE INFLUENCING.  THIS IS ALL FOR THE GOOD OF PUTIN AND HIS MURDEROUS, VILE REGIME.

I took a quick trip (electronic) to what Donald's most avid bloggers were saying and yep, they were celebrating this news of this hack.    The information they were writing was inaccurate, but what was more interesting is that these are a bunch of people who are nationalists....so why would they care about what was going on in a foreign country?

This just validates my posting in another topic saying that Putin and the Russians were not only involved in our elections but were trying to influence ours and other elections in countries in Europe and elsewhere. This is almost a global effort with them. They want Right Wingers in office everywhere they can. I guess that's why the Right Wing has no complaints about it? Thank goodness some Washington Republicans don't look at it that way.

A friend of mine said one theory is that Putin never thought that Trump would win.  Instead, he thought the hacks would be used to delegitimize the new (Clinton) administration.   These leaks in France came out too late (because of their media ban) to really influence the election.   Maybe it's the same thing.   To create chaos for the new Macron administration....

Tsar Vlad the Stumpy and Der Trumper agree - NATO is obsolete and should be abandoned. So the Trumpettes will just yawn, order another round of Freedom Fries (with gravy) and wait to ignore the next Russian Outrage sanctioned by their Leader and Grabber-in-Chief.

p.s. - Reagan's monumental waste of Defense spending had NOTHING to do with the fall of the USSR. That totalitarian state was brought down because Gorbachev realized he had to loosen the absolute control on the exchange of information if they were to survive in the modern World, and the coup d'grace came when he refused to help the Polish government put down the Solidarity workers revolt, saying "You can't shoot people just because you disagree". That comment reversed 70 years of Soviet policy, and sent the flames of Solidarity to consume the old Warsaw Pact and finally the USSR.

If you want to put western names to the fall of the Soviet Union, you should start with Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Tim Berner-Lee and DARPA.

Reagan's ONLY involvement was to have so depleted US Government resources we were unable to provide any significant aid to the DEMOCRATIC forces in Russia that toppled the Soviet regime, only to be pushed aside by the neoCommies just like the Socialists who won the first revolution were displaced by the Commies. Had Yelsen's government been able to feed the people (with US aid) there would've been no call for a "strong leader" to end the corruption that kept the shelves bare, and Vlad would be unknown outside the KGB alumni association.

Had Reagan not built up the military that was weakened in the aftermath of Watergate and the Carter Administration, we may have still had the Cold War. Had that not happened we would not have had that "peace dividend" that was used to........?????

But, by your theory we should have developed another massive welfare program - this time for Russia. Cool!!! We could have modeled it after the "War on Poverty" and we would have millions of Russians dependent on our 1%er to feed them still today.

That "32 years ago" obsession is really taking some strange twists.

Reagan did nothing to "build up" the US Military. What he did was waste billions on failed systems. There was his pipe-dream of a 600-ship Navy, which lead to building a new class of frigate with an aluminium hull, which cracked, the Zumwalt stealth destroyer and a next gen cruiser that was never built but consumed $200M in development costs. Then the USAF got the Kenetic Energy Interceptor for Star Wars that never worked but ate $1.3B before being cancelled and the airbourne laser, $5B wasted. Not to be left out, Army wasted $1.3B on the Crusaider gun system and $3.3B on a new APC and $6.6B on a new helicopter that was never built. Meanwhile he continued to waste billions on a reserve system that was never designed for use in actual combat and more billions on various space-based systems that did not pan out.

Scout, they just keep trying to change history, don't they? Is it because they are historically challenged or is it that true history just doesn't suit them?

scout, "they" realize that there is much, much to history beyond an obsession with "32 years ago". For instance, "they" understand that "Star Wars" was a major factor in the end of the Cold War. The USSR realized they could not afford to keep up.

Now, back to the topic - the French elections. When an American ex-President endorses Macon, is that American interference. Or do only Russians interfere?

Depending on the interference. the Russians have a plan by which they will diseminate fake news and see how many will believe them or at least try to manipulate the truth.

Trump, in my view, doesn't interfere with the French elections on anything that he may say. Just his words are enough to show the French people  what happens when they vote for anyone similar to Trump.

Rk-The difference is that Mr. Obama is overtly speaking up, which any citizen in any free country is legally able to do. The Russians are running a covert operation specifically meant to derail a candidate who is not of its choosing.

Good point - we know that Obama is attempting to effect the French election; some theorize that the Russians tried to effect ours.

BS!!!!! that  statement cannot be equalized.  If Obama speaks anywhere, there is a big difference than trying to effect an election. Unless you believe that Obama is a man that has and can exercise lots of power of persuation in other countries.. And that would make him quite popular elsewhere. everywehere?

I was not trying to equalize any statement.

The power Obama has overseas is subject to conjecture but you may have noticed I used the word "attempting" - that is different from "did".

That is the same distinction with the Russians and our elections. There are claims that they "attempted" to influence but nothing showing they effected the outcome.

RK--Do you really think anyone but the incredibly stupid believe anything in this last post to me RE: Obama's support of Macon--

Trump supported LePen--nationally and internationally reported

During the last sub committe hearing, not one official --Dem or Rep. denied Russians meddled in the election

Twisting, lying, inventing alternative realities, and creating diversions DOES NOT change reality

Rker-you are right, there is no parellel between Obama speaking in favor of Macon and Russian intetfetence--more RW diversion.

Notice not one word was said about trump's very vocal support of Le Pen.  Easier to spin the RW web of deceit that way.

Trump won the swing states the Russians targeted with their fake news sites. The Russians wanted Trump to win, their interference was created to achieve that goal and unfortunately Trump was unconstitutionally elected.

I have read the articles rk, contrary to  your false accusation otherwise.

If you are going to copy sections of an article, please copy it in context with the surrounding text. You conveniently omitted what the article DEFINITELY stated:

>>>> According to two members of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) and committee chairman Richard Burr (R-NC), hundreds of Russian trolls were paid in 2016 to generate fake news stories about Clinton and target them at voters in key states in an effort to swing the election for Trump.

"There were upwards of a thousand paid internet trolls working out of a facility in Russia, in effect taking over a series of computers which are then called a botnet, that can then generate news down to specific areas," Warner said." <<<<
