Republican planning for cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security?

https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/social-security-medicare-and-medicaid-spending-drive-our-national-de...

Brief quotes: Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid are major drivers of US debt, which has skyrockted to $21 trillion.  If every taxpayer was billed for an equal share of debt, each would be charged $400,000.  The cause of our out of control national debt is rooted in long term obligations of these three big entitlement programs.

The author cleverly wrote this to make it sound like the three entitlement programs are the main cause of (what does "rooted in" mean?) and that they would cost each taxpayer $400,000 (when that is for the entire debt, not just the three programs).

Hmm, let me see what might be driving our debt up.  The non partisan Congressional Budget Office says GOP tax bill projected to increase debt by $1.9 trillion between 2018 and 2028.   https://thehill.com/policy/finance/382319-gop-tax-law-will-add-19-trillion-to-debt-cbo

CNBC says 2018 deficit is $779 billion, a 17% increase over 2017.   https://www.cnbc.com/2018/10/16/trumps-tax-cut-didnt-reduce-the-deficit--despite-his-many-promises.h...

So, tax cuts giving a few dollars to middle income Americans and big $$ to wealthy and corporations are essentially being used as a reason to cut benefits that many American count on or soon will.

Be ready for politicians to come about your Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

I should add that this is a Fox News article, not a Republican statement, but it seems to be laying the groundwork for Republican action.

The truth hurts does it not, and once again the enablers prove the experts correct.

And here we are back at the basic question - what experts? Merely posting "enablers" does not further the discussion.

Yes we are back to the basic question. Why do the Dictator Trump enablers keep proving the experts correct every day, and the can never be a discussion with Trump enablers as that is beyond their reach. With that in mind you know the expression.

It appears that you have trapped yourself in your "experts" comment and are now playing the usual game to cover. I'll say "ta-ta" for now.

Anyone in the 99% who casts another vote for any Republican anywhere for anything is a fool or a masochist - probably both.

The 99% are benefiting by Trump in many ways: income tax cuts, more jobs available, lower gas prices, probably got a raise when the corporate tax cuts took place, probably also got a bonus from the good economy, and still the left complains about the "crumbs" they received.

You may think those that are benefiting are fools, but that's the difference between a smart fool and a dumb fool.

Hate to break the news to you but all the things except Tax Increase are from Obama. I bet you missed the classes on how an ecomoney works.

Time to wake up. Obama gave us more taxes and misery. The "ecomoney" doesn't work but the economy does when the right person is leading the way (hint - it wasn't Obama)!

Well the experts have told us the Trump enablers are mostly rural, low income, uneducated, easy to lead. white. I would say it is time for the enablers to wake up, and prove the experts wrong.

Well lets start with where the clowns are. They are the far right Trump enablers. Now in the WH we have a President (Dictator) who lies all the time, and that carries over to FOX and the commentators they have. There have been studies done by all sorts of experts in population demographics, and they all have come to the same results. Even the ones done by zip codes. By the way you do know every business you go to uses at least the zip code ones. One of the first thing discovered years ago when that first started was the the poor far right white  who hated the blacks were really no different than them. That surprised just about everyone who uses the zip study for marketing. Have no fear the enablers will not prove the experts wrong as they gave the experts the information on them. See the film 6 billboards.

See you agree with the experts if you liked the film 6 billboards. It showed life and thought of the far right Trump supporters. Are you going to see it a 2nd time?

The usual misinterpretation (intentional?). The movie had nothing to do with a "clown", enablers, Fox, zips, marketing, a Dictator.

Now, who are your experts.

No cuts coming  -Social Securtiy is tied to COLA . Medicaid will be less because of the low unemployment. Medicare will stay the same because " Medicare for all" will die on the vine

If you understood the health care system you would know we already have a version of Medicare for all. Just go to an ER and you will be treated no money required. Right now we have the most expensive version of Medi Care for all there is. The versions you tell us will die on the vine would save us all money. How little our far right knows.

His math is a little flawed. Assuming we have 330 million people and a $21 trillion dollar debt, the debt shouldered by each person is still a staggering $63,000 (not $400,000). I also wouldn't count on any cuts to Medicare or SS since there are many Republicans on these programs.

Thanks for the reply.   Re the author's math, he said "every taxpayer" rather than each person probably to make the number larger and more scary.

This may not happen, but I am guessing that there will be attempts made and we will need to make our opposition heard.
