Report from the Borderlands, Another Trump threat

Message 1 of 1

Those of us living along the US/Mexican border are observing the famous Trump incompetence every day.  When Trump entered office, immigration was at a low point but Trumps constant threats to close the border and his mismanagement of relations with out southern neighbors have brought a steady rise in refugees.

His unwillingness to "staff up" CBP and Justice Department judges to deal with the influx is becoming something of a joke down here. Now, he is threatening to transport refugees to cities which refuse to cooperate with his immigration policies before releasing them.

First, CBP has been very, very proud that they were able to transport 90 immigrants 50 miles from the border before releasing them. This seems to be a logistical achievement of sorts. One can only imagine trying to arrange passage to a cities further into the interior.

Second, refugees DO NOT STAY IN THE CITIES WHERE THEY ARE RELEASED.  Like the charities along the borderlands, they will arrive, get a hot shower, food, clothing, and make contact with friends and relatives in the interior.  Then, they get on a bus, train, or plane and leave, usually within 48 hours.  In fact, the larger cities Trump will target will be much better positioned to handle the mess he has created as they have more resources and better transportation links than those of us near the border.

Once again, Trump is taking careful aim at his foot before folding on a threat.
