Re: Remember when Jared Kushner's dad donated $2.5 million to Harvard?

Please remember not ALL the rich produce moronic offspring, but when they do, Republicans have rigged the system so those morons are guarenteed success. The Harvard EDUCATION is not valued by the rich for the quality of their instructors. It's the STUDENT BODY they want little Tripper and Bunny exposed to. Same reason Trip and Bun were raised in gated communities, attended private schools, and went to very pricey summer camps. Marrying rich is easy when those are the only people you meet.

Are these the same people who, when brown people try to come across the border, are all upset that they are not playing fair and following the rules?

While it is disgusting that money can get a moron into an elite college, what is more disgusting is, once in, said moron will inevitably GRADUATE.

Then, with the personal contacts acquired while doing mediocre work in the classroom, said maoron will become a Captain of Industry, or at least a 1st Mate, and make moronic decisions that the rest of us wind up paying for. Like the invention of derivatives and sub-prime mortgages. There's a great little movie out there called "The Big Short" - check it out to see who was actually driving the train when it went over the cliff.

Mueller isn't investigating Jarad's grades but we don't have to wait for any further report to know that he was involved in bribing his way into Harvard.

More food for thought -- an analysis from the Washington Post.

According to Tim O’Brien, author of “Trump Nation,” the president has given at least $1.5 million to Wharton, which Trump Jr. and his sister Ivanka also attended. According to the Daily Pennsylvanian, the school’s newspaper, “This string of donations Trump may have made in the late nineties roughly coincides with his children’s enrollment at Penn. Donald J. Trump Jr. began classes at Penn in 1996 and Ivanka Trump in 2000.”

Noted the president or his family have not been accused of any admissions hanky-panky, but like I said -- food for thought.

What’s more notable is the way Trump Jr. and his father have effectively sold themselves as outsiders even as they’ve repeatedly benefited from privilege.

This would be a good time for Trump to stop blocking the release of his transcripts so we can be sure he entered Ivy League schools based on the merits of his grades.  (Wow, I actually got through that with a straight face)

"A former official at the Frisch School in Paramus, N.J., where Kushner attended, told Golden that there was no way that Kushner was going to Harvard on merits alone.

“His GPA [grade point average] did not warrant it, his SAT scores did not warrant it. We thought, for sure, there was no way this was going to happen. Then, lo and behold, Jared was accepted. It was a little bit disappointing because there were at the time other kids we thought should really get in on the merits, and they did not.’’

I'm glad this is all coming out.  Hopefully students with recognized merit will be rewarded and able to build their futures rather than being kicked to the curb for having the audacity to knock on a door expecting it to open for them.

dt touts "merit based" immigrants as the ones he wants, America needs.  Pretty ridiculous statements when he puts dead-eyes jarjar in a top security position.

Then there is this analysis.  Content Warning

Remember when Jared Kushner's dad donated $2.5 million to Harvard?

The right is just fine with this transactional approach to education. Indeed, to life itself. Got enough money to buy your way into Harvard? Go for it.  Got enough to pay off that porn star? Go for it.

All that talk about how someone is undeserving only seems to apply if their parents are poor. Being undeserving and rich are oxymoron to the aristocracy of America.

Remember That Time When Jared Kushner’s Dad Donated $2.5M to Harvard and Then His Son Got Into Harvard?

But it looks like the president’s son-in-law, holder of Ivanka’s hand and a security clearance he didn’t earn, was ahead of the curve. Author Daniel Golden put Jared Kushner’s game on front street in his 2006 book, The Price of Admission, where he questioned how Kushner, a mediocre student at best, was accepted to one of America’s most prestigious institutions: Harvard.
