These are largely the high-tax states so their residents supply the revenue.  Our partisan GOP majority in Congress therefore thinks it's a really good idea to hit the middle-class that lives in these high-cost-of-living areas with an immediate tax increase.  What the heck....they vote Blue....so why not?

The GOP is doing this by eliminating the deductions for local/state taxes in their tax scam package.  That's why I mentioned that the disparity is likely to grow.  Blues will be paying even more to subsidize the Reds.

There are more implications than just red/blue in that chart.  Consider the major source of revenue within the state itself when looking at possible reasons for their position in the chart.

I'm not a 'tax expert'.  I am only speculating.  I'll bet the data is there, though.  Of significant interest are the few States who actually pay more in than they get out.  What is 'their major source of revenue.  The reasons for our National Debt and the reasons we have a Deficit are buried somewhere in there.

Reds Stealing from Blues

Most of us are very aware that Red states are tax "moochers".  They take more from the federal government than they pay into it in taxes.  (The GOP tax scam if passed will increase that disparity.)

However generous Blues wouldn't mind it so much if at least their taxes went to help those that the tax $s are meant to help such as the poor.

Apparently that isn't the case in Texas, a large and prosperous Red state that nonetheless falls within the "moocher" category.  It's also a state that takes federal funds earmarked for the poor and spends the $s instead on core state functions.

Here's a link to the Guardian's detailed report on this "legal" theft: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/nov/30/texas-welfare-spending-poor-families

And here's substantiation of Texas' "moocher" status if anyone needs it.dollar_1.jpeg
