"As a Republican standing here with my Democratic colleagues, I am sick and tired of this institution being controlled by essentially one office that I'm willing to take such a disruptive position as this for the American people to say look at a Democratic candidate who embraces these new reforms, I will stand with," Reed said in an interview, standing alongside three Democrats who are joining him in the effort.

Asked if he would be able to withstand the backlash from Republicans by potentially backing Pelosi, Reed indicated he would.

"You know obviously there would be significant backlash," Reed said. "But, I firmly believe that if you do the right thing, for the right reason, the right things will happen in life. And this is that moment."

Reed said he's "open" to backing Pelosi because he's "so frustrated with this institution being just a top-down driven organization that essentially -- you work hard to get bipartisan consensus legislation and you're told no -- the rules of the House say no you can't have that done."
Reed added: "It is time to change this, and if Nancy Pelosi's the only one's that there, I am open to it."

That is the way the institution is set up, and there is nothing you nor I can do to change it now. You will work within the current system whether you like it or not. Change the system if you want but that will happen in another day not now. So if the Dems put someone in who can not work the present system they will fail to accomplish much, and that will come back to bite them in 2020 with the reelection of Trump, and the US becomes the newest full Dictatorship. What you want is for the Dems to fail. Nancy is the best one to work the system, and the Dems who are in the House will set the policy and Nancy  carries it out.

I'm sorry - I dont understand this kind of thinking at all - Quarterbacks get benched all the time - they dont stop working for their team to win - I'f Pelosi loses the Speakership - so what happens then Her Hoyer & Clyburn & the rest of her Caucus start helping the Republicans - you put a younger more articulate person in charge but the people with the experience dont go home - they use their skills the same way you expect the younger people to contribute when they aren't in charge

Pelosi made some Democrats vote for Trump - she sure made some Independents vote for Trump - we have to beat Trump in the 2020 Election & that takes a lot of money - Pelosi's Name & Face in any Republican fundraising effort is Money in the Bank - it's time to take some of these automatic anti-democratic triggers away from Republicans - make them work harder & spend more money - 2 years isn't enough time to make a New Democratic Speaker a hated household name for Republicans

I know you do not understand what I am telling you or you would not be on the path you are.  This is not a football game and the two areas are totally different. One might work in one will not work in the other. Try getting to know someone who has worked in Congress and they can teach you like they taught me. If Nancy looses the speakership the Reb. will be very happy as their life will be easier, and that is why they try so hard to keep her from the post. The policies will not change as she does not set them, but how they are implemented which  she is the best at that. I hate to break the news to you but the only way anything will get done is if the Dems. can get some Reb. to support their ideas since the Reb. still control 2 of the 3 places needed to get things done, and that includes impeachment. The investigations in the house will go forwarded no matter who is speaker since the chairmanship of the committees is pretty much set. Nancy will be training other Dems in how to run things as my guess is this will be her last congress. I am not a fan of hers and she knows the time has come to get new people ready. Nancy made no one vote Reb. The Reb. campaign against her which was nothing but lies did. We had one such campaign in my state, and the Dem won. The people you speak of are not much different than the far right reb. enablers. They would fit into the description the experts have given us. One trait was they can not think for themselves. Having heard the Reb. campaign adds using her one has to be close to idiot status to do anything they said. Right now the Dems will be better off going with Nancy and I think that will happen as the Dems in Congress know how the system works.

Career Democrat Incumbents Like Pelosi are the REASON so many Democrats & Independents voted for Trump

Americans are FED UP with Career Politicians

Pelosi Backed Crowley in New York - Crowley was another Democratic Incumbent who has been in Congress for 20 years - He Was the Chairman of the Democratic Caucus in the House - I never heard of him and I've voted Democrat most of my life

Crowley got Hammered by losing 16 points to a 28 year old Socialist in the Primary

Pelosi backed Mike Capuano in Massachusetts - Capuano was another Democratic Incumbent who has been in Congress for 20 years - Capuano was beat by 19 points in the Primary by a Young Woman named Ayanna Pressley who's only previous Political Experience was as a Boston City Councilor

Capuano was Destroyed losing by 19 points in the Primary

These are Not Anomolies - This is Pelosi's Legacy in 2018 - She Picks Losers - She is a Loser

As I told you before you have no understanding of what is going on here. One job of the speaker is to try and help serving members of Congress keep their seat, but in the end the people of the local area have the final say. You would really do yourself a favor and learn how Congress works.

The Democrats had the majority in both the House and the Senate for the first two years that Obama was in office. The Democrats have always voiced that the wealthiest and the 1% should pay their fair share in taxes, they strongly criticized the Reagan tax cuts for the wealthiest. Not once did Pelosi or the Dems attempt to raise taxes up on the wealthiest, even while we started to spend (as we should have) to get us out of the crashed economy that Bush left. They have talked about a Universal Health Care Plan, but that's all, only talk, and they then unanimously passed the Republican written ACA. I also don't completely trust the Democrats under Pelosi completely keeping their word on preventing SS, Medicare and Medicaid from getting cut, when all three should be expanded. I think that with Fudge we have a better chance of things such as those happening.

Campaign finance reform is one of the biggest things we need, DEEP reform, and I really don't trust Pelosi and all of the long time Democrats to actually take that on either, many are close to the money trough. IMO, we need to move to the Progressive side. We may have a better chance of that with Fudge.

I think there should be Public Debates if there are Challenges to US House & Senate Leadership Positions

Debates aren't a bad idea, it could just be a head to head round table discussion, why I'm better for the job sort of thing in a friendly sort of way.

Just something on the Internet perhaps.

Comments from the supporters of each camp.

Something simple and straight forward that the public can participate in, if only by viewing it, and  making comments on a page.

Pretty much the way YouTube works.
