WASHINGTON — Sixteen Democrats on Monday released a letter announcing their opposition to electing Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., speaker of the House, presenting her a narrow path to reclaiming the speaker’s gavel in the next Congress.

The letter is the first concrete expression of opposition from current Democratic lawmakers and incoming members of Congress since the party won control of the House in the midterm elections.

As I said you do not understand this subject at all. The last thing in the world the Dems need now is a fight amongst them selves like you want as they will not be able to perform what they were elected to do. You will find a number of the 16 do not in the end want to destroy what they just won and every thinking person better hope they do and vote for the only person the Dems have right now to start getting the job done on day one. Like it or not these are the facts.

Mick is just stating a fact that may have slipped by you. They have their choice of the devil they know or the devil they don't.

No  you  and the far right do not want her as she is the devil your leaders are most afarid of. Why do you think Trump said he will supply votes to make her leader? You just proved my point about her. She is your worst nightmare.

Only liberals need leaders to show them the "way" to follow like good little lemmings! I don't care who the left picks.

You are mixed up. The far right is who you describe because your leaders have brain washed you.

"As a Republican standing here with my Democratic colleagues, I am sick and tired of this institution being controlled by essentially one office that I'm willing to take such a disruptive position as this for the American people to say look at a Democratic candidate who embraces these new reforms, I will stand with," Reed said in an interview, standing alongside three Democrats who are joining him in the effort.

Asked if he would be able to withstand the backlash from Republicans by potentially backing Pelosi, Reed indicated he would.

"You know obviously there would be significant backlash," Reed said. "But, I firmly believe that if you do the right thing, for the right reason, the right things will happen in life. And this is that moment."

Reed said he's "open" to backing Pelosi because he's "so frustrated with this institution being just a top-down driven organization that essentially -- you work hard to get bipartisan consensus legislation and you're told no -- the rules of the House say no you can't have that done."
Reed added: "It is time to change this, and if Nancy Pelosi's the only one's that there, I am open to it."

That is the way the institution is set up, and there is nothing you nor I can do to change it now. You will work within the current system whether you like it or not. Change the system if you want but that will happen in another day not now. So if the Dems put someone in who can not work the present system they will fail to accomplish much, and that will come back to bite them in 2020 with the reelection of Trump, and the US becomes the newest full Dictatorship. What you want is for the Dems to fail. Nancy is the best one to work the system, and the Dems who are in the House will set the policy and Nancy  carries it out.

I'm sorry - I dont understand this kind of thinking at all - Quarterbacks get benched all the time - they dont stop working for their team to win - I'f Pelosi loses the Speakership - so what happens then Her Hoyer & Clyburn & the rest of her Caucus start helping the Republicans - you put a younger more articulate person in charge but the people with the experience dont go home - they use their skills the same way you expect the younger people to contribute when they aren't in charge

Pelosi made some Democrats vote for Trump - she sure made some Independents vote for Trump - we have to beat Trump in the 2020 Election & that takes a lot of money - Pelosi's Name & Face in any Republican fundraising effort is Money in the Bank - it's time to take some of these automatic anti-democratic triggers away from Republicans - make them work harder & spend more money - 2 years isn't enough time to make a New Democratic Speaker a hated household name for Republicans

I know you do not understand what I am telling you or you would not be on the path you are.  This is not a football game and the two areas are totally different. One might work in one will not work in the other. Try getting to know someone who has worked in Congress and they can teach you like they taught me. If Nancy looses the speakership the Reb. will be very happy as their life will be easier, and that is why they try so hard to keep her from the post. The policies will not change as she does not set them, but how they are implemented which  she is the best at that. I hate to break the news to you but the only way anything will get done is if the Dems. can get some Reb. to support their ideas since the Reb. still control 2 of the 3 places needed to get things done, and that includes impeachment. The investigations in the house will go forwarded no matter who is speaker since the chairmanship of the committees is pretty much set. Nancy will be training other Dems in how to run things as my guess is this will be her last congress. I am not a fan of hers and she knows the time has come to get new people ready. Nancy made no one vote Reb. The Reb. campaign against her which was nothing but lies did. We had one such campaign in my state, and the Dem won. The people you speak of are not much different than the far right reb. enablers. They would fit into the description the experts have given us. One trait was they can not think for themselves. Having heard the Reb. campaign adds using her one has to be close to idiot status to do anything they said. Right now the Dems will be better off going with Nancy and I think that will happen as the Dems in Congress know how the system works.

Career Democrat Incumbents Like Pelosi are the REASON so many Democrats & Independents voted for Trump

Americans are FED UP with Career Politicians

Pelosi Backed Crowley in New York - Crowley was another Democratic Incumbent who has been in Congress for 20 years - He Was the Chairman of the Democratic Caucus in the House - I never heard of him and I've voted Democrat most of my life

Crowley got Hammered by losing 16 points to a 28 year old Socialist in the Primary

Pelosi backed Mike Capuano in Massachusetts - Capuano was another Democratic Incumbent who has been in Congress for 20 years - Capuano was beat by 19 points in the Primary by a Young Woman named Ayanna Pressley who's only previous Political Experience was as a Boston City Councilor

Capuano was Destroyed losing by 19 points in the Primary

These are Not Anomolies - This is Pelosi's Legacy in 2018 - She Picks Losers - She is a Loser

As I told you before you have no understanding of what is going on here. One job of the speaker is to try and help serving members of Congress keep their seat, but in the end the people of the local area have the final say. You would really do yourself a favor and learn how Congress works.

Here are the Facts

The Speakers Job is to Maintain their Parties Control of the House so they can pass Legislation that makes Americans lives better

The Speakers Job is not to insure Individual Politicians get to extend their careers - that's old school this is 2018 and a New Progressive Democratic Party

Pelosi Lost Her Parties Control of the House with a 20th Century Partisan Strategy - a 20th Century Good Ole Boy - Top Down Philosophy that you obviously still support

The American Voters spoke just spoke to you through Pressely - Ocasio Cortez & Dozens more that I'll be happy to list here if you insist - new Politicians - New House Members who distanced themselves from Pelosi Style Partisan Politics - Newly Elected House Representatives that Voters elected over Incumbents that gave Democrats the Majority again - Pelosi - Hoyer - Clyburn had absolutely nothing to do with it

There is a message here for those who want to listen - Drain The Swamp

The Voters sent that message when they elected Trump - he used the Voters & they responded again by draining some Swamp themselves

Look up Crowley & Capuano just for starters - just 2 of many who were supported by Pelosi & got trounced - 20 year Incumbents in the Pelosi Caucus who got shellacked

These are the Facts - Incumbent Career Political Dinosaurs - BAD - Young Energetic Progressives who buck the System - Good

The Voters Make The Rules - not Political Hacks like Pelosi

Your latest post just further proves that you have no understanding of what is going on. There was a good TV interview tonight with the member of Congress from DC( EHR). Go watch it you will learn something. There was a good interview of an incoming member who covered the same subject and said why she will vote for Nancy. Go watch it. The incoming Congressperson from NYC you refer to was on and will vote for Nancy. Watch that you will learn something. There is a backing off by some others who were part of the get rid of her group. They are learning what the job is, and are starting to see they were wrong. As the incoming congressperson said on TV we were elected to get things done, and with Nancy she hits the floor running as she knows what to do. Nancy proved herself by getting the ACA passed in the house, and all tell us what a good job she did. Dems get elected in 2020 because they accomplished something, and they do that with a good speaker who knows how to make things happen. All the experts in this area say Nancy. You are staying in the swamp by your line of thinking.

You Can Try To Spin This in Whatever Way You Want for Whatever Purpose You Want -

Below is Exactly what Ocasio Cortez Said - anyone who pays attention to the actual words & understands words are important - context is important & is following the actual issue understands what she said and what she means

1. The Election for the Speaker of the House Will Not Take Place Until the New Members of the House have been sworn in - that takes place in January 2019 - right now it's November 2018

2. Right Now - Pelosi is the only announced candidate for House Speaker

3. Ocasio Cortez -

Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., announced Monday she currently backs Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi for speaker, since Pelosi is the "most progressive candidate" running

"Right now, out of the field, I would say that she is the most progressive candidate," Ocasio-Cortez said on her Instagram Live.

"All of the rebellion for the speakership are challenges to her right, and so I think it's important to communicate that."

"My standard in this is: I'm going to support the most progressive candidate that's leading the party and right now that is Nancy Pelosi, in terms of running," Ocasio-Cortez said.

"I would like to see new, younger leadership, but I don't want new leadership that's more conservative."

There were 50 freshman Democrats elected to Congress in the midterms
