It seems that once people are brainwashed with trump and extreme right propaganda they have great difficulty dealing with society and actual reality.  Drop the opinion shows and watch actual news.

When Cadet Bonespurs called refugees an invading Army of disease ridden murderers, rapists and child molesters, he left out POOR because his GOPerBase knew he could not be talking about rich Norwegeans or other desirable (rich white) immigrants.

GOPers also confuse "immigrant" with "refugee" so they can spread their hate more completely over all the poor brown people who want to become Americans.

Most of the immigrants are coming in responce to the ads Republicans place in South and Central American newspapers telling people about the wonderful (sub-minimum) wages they can earn if they come to America, so to reduce the numbers, we need to begin JAILING the scum who place such ads and the ones who hire the deceived masses answering the ads.

Refugees are fleeing violence and political upheavel and the violence and unrest are supported almost entirely by the NRAGOP who provides the guns for the mobsters and insurectionists who destabalize their countries (much as Republicans want to destabalize America) so they can create countries ruled by criminal gangs (as opposed to Corporate Oligarchs who GOPers will have ruling America)

We need to get rid of elected Republicans because they will NEVER allow these problems to be solved peacefully - they want civil unrest to "destroy America so they can rebuild it in their image).

As had been stated several times here, there are already loses in place to address that. Poor people dependent on federal programs don’t get green cards.

He is NOT looking for more people to depend on the federal government for handouts and of course they would become Democrats looking for more freebies as Democrats do (as I have posted many time in the past)!

You tell us - are the Socialist Liberals obeying these laws that have 'existed for years' as you say?  NO! If someone has to ask that question, maybe it's time to really listen to all sides of this immigration debate and not just 'trust' the one you do now?  I used to do just that until I eventually (after researching it a lot) found out who was reporting the facts and who was just telling their own side how THEY saw it.

If I may ask?  who wrote this absolutely and total bunch of lies?

His war has always been against ALL immigrants. Not just illegal immigrants. He’s providing “cover” for his war by saying he just doesn’t want low-income immigrants. Because you are right, those laws requiring a sponsor or self-sufficiency have been in place for a long time.

”Having money” to migrate is a way to allow immigration from western countries that have similar incomes. He’s ok with these countries because they are mostly white immigrants.

Trying to clamp down on immigrants from more impoverished nations hurts immigrants of color.  Anyone who’s travelled or has friends/family who are foreign-born knows that just because a dentist in Morocco only makes $10,000 a year, that doesn’t meant they are poor or uneducated. They lead a life in Morocco similar to a dentist’s life here. But by American standards, they may not have the cash to immigrate.

As long as Stephen Miller is by Trump’s side, policy will be geared toward keeping America as white as possible.

I saw today so many idiotic responses by Trump regarding this issue that I wondered if he really was doing them on purporse.
Having been thru the process and over the years dealing with the process  of obtaining green cards. I don't know where he gets his facts.
1.-When you migrate into the US you usually do it in a couple of ways. One is by having a sponsor that will become financially responsible for yo so that you won't fall into the welfare rolls. therefore, Immigrant  do have to present proofs that their sponsors are not there or whatever in order to obtain welfare.

If you migrate into the US like we did without a sponsor you really have to have money in the bank that will be sufficient that you will not become indigents and will have to ask for welfare.
Those laws have existed for years. so why now Trump is saying that immigrants cannot get welfare an that they have to have money to migrate when all of this has always been in the laws?

"Welfare", in this instance, is a rather generic term encompassing many government programs of help - Federal or Federal /State.

Just to give a few examples - not judging one way or the other, the appropriateness - just giving info.

  • Medicaid and CHIP is available to children under 18 in most states, maybe all, including immigrant children.
  • Pregnant women can get Medicaid and be enrolled in the WIC program after the child is born.
  • Once a lawfully present immigrant has been here for (5) years, they can receive Medicaid if otherwise eligible.
  • Once a lawfully present immigrant has been here for (5) years, if they don't qualify for Medicaid and are otherwise eligible, they can apply for an ACA SUBSIDIZED health plan.
  • Any child can be enrolled in public school and if their family income is at the eligibility level the child can get free meals at school.

I read an article the other day, sorry don't recall where and why should I even look it up on this forum, concerning California trying to figure out a way for the Federal government to kick in a share for California's new Medicaid beneficiaries - undocumented individuals up to age 26.

Once a child is born here to an immigrant family - legally or illegally present - the child is then a U.S. Citizen and that may open the door for more government help programs - like food stamps and others.

Refugees come here and are helped by non-profit Immigration services - a place to live, English lessons, a job or help finding one.  Most have no to little money and few know anybody.  They are beginning again; learning how to stand on their own - a profession does help with how fast this might happen.

Yes, our President is using his style of rhetoric to instill fear into this population so they become more fearful to even apply for these help programs.

Yes, we do need total immigration reform to develop a system that is best for all of us - immigrants - refugees - asylum seekers - temporary protected residents - end of term Visa carriers.  We need swift determination of application and removal, if and when necessary.

Legislators could do this if they set their mind to it, fought over it in some closed chamber not to be let out until an agreement is developed.  Hey, I would even go for withholding food and water but that would be cruel and unusual punishment - much like these legislators inflict upon us, meaning just people looking to them for some fair action.

No right now legislators could not do this. The far right will not allow anything to pass that Dictator Trump would not sign. Most of what is happening now is not by law but new regs., and that is how a Dictator works. Here is how you end the problem. Get rid of Trump in the 2020 election if possible. Once the dictator is gone his new rules can be voided, and then Congress can do something.
